P-G classical music critic Andrew Druckenbrod blogs about classical music. |
With the summer schedule being more loose and vacation-filled, I am slow to post about my stories. But here is the link to a great story, the career so far of Pittsburgher, violinist Aaron Boyd, who is now concertmaster of the Tucson Symphony Orchestra. It has some amazing twists to it, and it's only just beginning, as he is only 31.
One think I failed to mention in the story is that Boyd was a member of the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra for several years (1991-96), so kudos to that excellent group as well for helping to prepare this young man for such a prestigious job as concertmaster. It's also worth mentioning that he told me he really appreciated the time that CAPA gave him to practice. It paid off.
