Variety reports that a PG-13 version of "The King's Speech" will be heading to theaters. That is terrific news because the movie is perfect for tweens and teens who can take inspiration from its message (and get a bit of a history lesson at the same time).
The trade publication's Rachel Abrams wrote that an edited version of the expected best picture winner has earned a PG-13 rating from the Classification and Rating Administration.
The Weinstein Company submitted the alternate version after the film received an "R" for colorful language (namely a string of f-words, uttered in the midst of the king's speech therapy) last year.
The MPAA and the National Association of Theater Owners also waived a CARA rule requiring the 90-day withdrawal of a film from theaters before replacing it with an edited version, a request from TWC.
No word on when the edited version will arrive but watch for the letters PG-13 in ads down the road.
