It's a bird! It's a plane! It's forestalling foreclosure!
That's what my friend said when I sent her the link to this story about a family forced to leave its home and packing up, when a copy of Action Comics #1 -- featuring Superman's first appearance -- turned up in their basement.
ABC News reports that the family, from the South, contacted New York's ComicConnect.com, whose owner told them that the rare comic could net more than $250,000.
The company's owner called the bank and persuaded managers to hold off on the foreclosure, according to Newser.com. The bank agreed, waiting until the comic is auctioned in the next few weeks.
The site quoted the company owner as saying, "You couldn't have asked for a happier ending," he added. "Superman saved the day.
