The Pittsburgh Penguins will soon be earning money via their new Consol Energy Center ... and not just from Hockey. It seems they have signed up sponsors willing to pay to have their names on anything that isn't nailed down and some things that are. I don't know if all the ads will distract us from team play, but if they do ... let's try the same thing at PNC Park!

Last night a young man by the name of Damon Dunn was interviewed. He is a black man who is running for CA, Sec. of State.
He told of how he grew up very poor, one of ten siblings, who lived in a three bedroom, run-down trailer. He had only his mother, because his father had died when he was three.
He was asked how he survived the streets and all that entailed. Without a hint of pause, he said - I owe it all to my mother's love and her "high expectations of me.
As I had said in my posts on that toon - "love can overcome obstacles".
But the most important thing he said was that his mother had "high expectations" for him. Maybe that is where we, as a community, have failed the youth of today.
Where you don't expect much - you get less.
