"I visited Joe on Friday and Saturday. I want to thank the Paterno family for allowing me to share Joe during those last precious days.
"It was special to see his grown kids and his young grandkids surrounding him and telling him how much they love him. They were not ready to see him leave – so they kept repeating “Fight Joe, fight! ”

Harris had remained close to Paterno throughout the years and was the subject of a petty rebuke by Luke Ravenstahl, and by a casino (no irony there) for standing by his old coach and friend in the wake of the Sandusky scandal.
Another Steeler and Penn State legend, Jack Ham, shared his thoughts with the Post-Gazette's Ron Musselman in a story today.
