The Penguins have placed forward Ryan Craig (right) and defenseman Andrew Hutchinson on waivers. Both players were signed to two-way contracts this summer

In two preseason games, Craig had two goals. He suffered a groin injury in a 3-1 home win against the Blue Jackets Sept. 25 and has been sidelined since then.

In three preseason games, Hutchinson recorded three assists.

Craig, 28, spent last season with the Norfolk Admirals, the Lightning's AHL affiliate. Hutchinson, 30, spent last season with the Texas Stars, the Dallas Stars' AHL affiliate.

All NHL teams must have their rosters down to at least 23 players tomorrow by 3 p.m.

These guys are good depth, but the bottom line is that they are on two way contracts and would have had to be much better than the competition to make the big club. Lets face it, they were minor leaguers for two below average NHL teams last year. In the end, all of the guys with one way contracts made it, plus Letestu who wouldn't clear waivers and Depres who will be here for 9 games max. Despite all of the talk of spots being open, it was all pretty predictable.
