Penguins

-Nailers forward Nick Petersen was named the ECHL player of the week.

-Happy 41st birthday to former Penguins forward Jim McKenzie. Acquired at the 1994 trade deadline in a move which sent Mike Needham to the Stars, McKenzie spent parts of two seasons in Pittsburgh. He finished 1993-94 by appearing in 11 games and failing to record a point. During the lockout-shortned 1994-95 season, McKenzie played in 39 games scored three points and compiled 63 points. In the 1995 offseason, he joined the Islanders as a free agent. In 50 games with the Penguins, McKenzie recorded three points.

Atlantic Division

-If you're upset about Jordan Staal, just be glad you're not a Devils fan. Forward Zach Parise will be sidelined three months due to a torn meniscus in his right knee.

-The Islanders demoted former Penguins forward Jon Sim to Bridgeport of the AHL.

Northeast Division

-A goal and an assist each from former Penguin Sergei Gonchar and Erik Karlsson led the Senators to a 3-2 win against the rival Maple Leafs. Fire Ray Shero. Brian Elliott made 33 saves in the win. Clarke MacArthur led Toronto with a goal and an assist.

-Ottawa's Mike Fisher scored on a penalty shot:

-Maple Leafs captain Dion Phaneuf left the game due to a cut on his leg.

Southeast Division

-Is Capitals defenseman Mike Green finally, actually playing defense?

-After they combined for 10 points in Calgary Saturday, Capitals coach Bruce Boudreau is going to keep the line of Nicklas Backstrom, Alex Ovechkin and Alexander Semin together.

-The Thrashers placed defenseman Freddy Meyer (mid body... huh?) on injured reserve and recalled former Penguins defenseman Noah Welch from Chicago of the AHL.

Central Division

-Former Penguin Mathieu Garon (above) made 29 saves and led the Blue Jackets to a 3-0 shutout of the Canadiens. Fire Ray Shero. Jakub Voracek recorded two assists for Columbus.

-Raffi Torres netted his first career hat trick and led the Canucks to a 4-3 win against his former team, the Oilers. Kevin Bieksa recorded three assists while Roberto Luongo (above) made 23 saves in the victory. Andrew Cogliano and Ladislav Smid each netted two assists for Edmonton.

Pacific Division

-The Ducks will keep rookie defenseman Cam Fowler on their NHL roster instead of returning him to his junior team. Fowler was a first-round pick this past summer.

-Anaheim placed forward Kyle Chipchura (concussion) on injured reserve.

-Ducks forward George Parros, a native of Washington, Pa., trimmed his signature moustache in honor of "Movember," a movement which raises awareness for men's health issues:

-Kings defenseman Drew Doughty (concussion) was given medical clearance to resume playing. He has been sidelined for six games.

-An overtime goal by forward Jesse Scanzano gave the Mercyhurst women's team a 4-3 win at Cornell.
