Last week, I posted an entry on thepensblog.com that gave the false impression that Post-Gazette management was considering eliminating the Empty Netters blog. Its future, then and now, was never in question and I was wrong to have suggested otherwise and to have summoned readers of Empty Netters to weigh in on something that was inaccurate. I apologize to my community for this error. I also apologize to my editors, who were caught by surprise by my post, and to the PG, which has always supported my work, given me editorial freedom from day one and invested considerable resources into this project.
In my efforts to show your passion for Empty Netters, I failed to display professionalism or good judgment. I ask you to forgive me.
Empty Netters is here to stay.

No need to ask for forgiveness from your readers, Seth. Your love for this blog is evident in how much time and devotion you display with every entry. You were afraid to lose it as much as we fans were afraid of losing your insight, wit, and humor. We share in your joy that EN is alive and well with you at the helm! Whew! I had a chance to think about how much I rely on EN to get my hockey news fix. I'd have missed it and am glad the blog will continue.

I was wondering what set off the firestorm in the first place! I second all these emotions...now, Lucy, you have some 'splainin' to do about why the live blog didn't appear Saturday night. I kept checking and checking during the game and nothing appeared on the EN site until Sunday morning when the complete blog appeared. If you already posted an explanation, that would make twice that I fell behind the EN power curve!

No apology needed Seth, as I agree with the sentiments of all of the posts here. One thing I didn't read though, (and I read your post 3 times), is that you are staying at the helm of Empty Netters and not going anywhere.

Seth, it's actually a relief to learn that the blog is not going anywhere. This is really, really great news. Whatever misunderstading was there, I hope it's all sorted out now.
Kudos to the PG editors for supporting this great blog.

Seriously there is never a need to apologize to us. One great thing to come out of it though is now you know how much we care and support you personally as well as love reading your blog.
I did recieve an e-mail back from one nameless editor who I e-mailed and after of course she deleted my initial e-mail and I fired back. But she basically told me Empty Netters wasn't in jeopardy and I was waiting all day for that great confirmation and am so glad to see that we wil be able to read you for years to come!

Seriously, glad to hear that you and the blog will both keep going. I think we can all wince in sympathy knowing what it's like to wish we could go back and handle something differently. But the end result sounds like a win for everybody.

this blog is great. i don't always have a chance to watch tv or anything before leaving for work and this is a great source for news and stories to keep me occupied and informed during my downtime. i'd say seth probably had to post this to make the PG people happy. it doesn't make sense that this was an issue before but is now being called a non-issue. i'd say the fans of the blog did right in writing, calling and e-mailing the PG with their support for the blog.
