Arron Asham (above) is not expected to play in tonight's game against the Rangers at Madison Square Garden due to an illness. In 15 games this season, Asham has six points (three goals, three assists).
Additionally, forward Mike Comrie will be sidelined once again due to an unspecified injury. In 16 games this season, Comrie has five assists.
As a result, the Penguins lines were re-tooled a bit this morning:
Chris Kunitz - Sidney Crosby - Pascal Dupuis
Matt Cooke - Max Talbot - Evgeni Malkin
Mike Rupp - Craig Adams - Tyler Kennedy
Chris Conner - Mark Letestu - Eric Godard
On the other side of the ice, the Rangers' best skater, forward Marian Gaborik, will be a game-time decision due to an illness as well. He was forced to skip a game in Nashville Saturday due to an illness. Enforcer Derek Boogaard will be sidelined for a third consecutive game due to a shoulder strain.
That will force Rangers coach John Tortorella to use a mish-mash of 11 forwards and seven defensemen.
Note: Penguins captain Sidney Crosby was named the NHL's third star of the week.
EN Says: We're not crazy about breaking up the third-line of Conner, Letestu and Kennedy, but we have to imagine the prospect of having two slower skaters like Rupp and Godard on the same line prompted Dan Bylsma to make the change.
