Penguins

-Don't tell Marc-Andre Fleury (above) that the All-Star Game is meaningless.

-Aarron Asham is good people:

-"I feel like I'm running out of time here. I don't know how many more years I've got playing in the NHL. I want to win a Stanley Cup. My whole goal is to win it and bring it back home and have a big celebration with Portagers." - Asham.

-With Dustin Jeffrey skipping out for personal reasons, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins defenseman Robert Bortuzzo and forward Eric Tangradi were named to the AHL's all-star game.

-Happy 57th birthday to former Penguins defenseman Colin Campbell (right). A second-round pick in 1973, Campbell spent parts of four seasons with the Penguins. After spending 1973-74 with the Vancouver Blazers of the WHA, Campbell made his NHL debut in 1974-75 with the Penguins. He played in 59 games and scored 19 points. During that spring's postseason, he appeared in nine games and recorded four points. He followed that up in 1975-76 by seeing action in 64 games and netting 17 points. In the 1976 postseaseon, he played in three games and failed to record a point. During the 1976 postseason, he was transfered to the Colorado Rockies as compensation for the Penguins signing Denis Herron. He returned to the Penguins in the 1977 offseason. The 1977-78 season saw him appear in 55 games and net 10 points. His final season in Pittsburgh was 1978-79. He played in 65 games and set a career-high with 20 points. During that spring's postseason, he appeared in seven games and recorded five points. In the 1979 offseason, he was claimed by the Oilers in an expansion draft. In 243 regular season games for the Penguins, Campbell scored 66 points. In 19 postseason games, he scored nine points. Campbell is currently the Senior Vice President and Director of Hockey Operations for the NHL.

Atlantic Division

-The Islanders signed former Penguins forward prospect Matt Moulston to a three-year deal worth $9.4 million. He will have a salary cap hit of $3.13 million.

-The Devils demoted defenseman Mark Fraser, forwards Nick Palmieri, Mattias Tedenby and Vladimir Zharkov to Albany of the AHL.

-The Flyers placed defenseman Matt Walker on waivers.

Southeast Division

-The Capitals signed forward Alexander Semin (right) to a one-year contract extension worth $6.7 million.

-Washington demoted forwards Jay Beagle, Mathieu Perreault and goaltender Braden Holtby to Hershey of the AHL.

-The Hurricanes demoted forward Zach Boychuk to Charlotte of the AHL.

-The Panthers demoted defenseman Joe Callahan to Rochester of the AHL.

Central Division

-The Red Wings activated forward Pavel Datsyuk (wrist) off injured reserve and demoted forwards forwards Jan Mursak and Cory Emmerton to Grand Rapids of the AHL.

-The Predators demoted forwards Chris Mueller and Matt Halischuk to Milwaukee of the AHL.

-The Blues demoted forward Philip McRae and defenseman Nikita Nikitin to Peoria of the AHL.

Northwest Division

-The Flames placed forward Ales Kotalik (right) on waivers.

-A back injury will sideline Canucks defenseman Alexander Edler indefinitely.

Pacific Division

-Ducks captain Ryan Getzlaf (face) was given medical clearance to resume skating.

-Anaheim forward Jason Jaffray (knee) was also cleared to start skating.

-The Stars demoted forwards Aaron Gagnon and Travis Morin to Texas of the AHL.

-The Coyotes demoted forwards Mikkel Boedker, Andrew Ebbett and defenseman Chris Summers to San Antonio of the AHL.

-The Sharks demoted forward sJamie McGinn and Benn Ferriero to Worcester of the AHL.
