Busy day for the Penguins

The team demoted forwards Eric Tangradi and Tim Wallace (above, with Washington's David Steckel) to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the AHL. Both players had been recalled earlier this month.

Tangradi, 21, has appeared in 13 games this season and scored two points (one goal, one assist).

Wallace, 26, appeared in two games this season, has no points and five penalty minutes.

On a side note, it appears Tangradi's popular twitter account has bit the dust.

So wait...what does this mean? Are Asham and Kunitz better? Doesn't that still leave us short?

This all seems weird. I guess if both Asham and Kunitz can go along with Godard getting back in the lineup then that would mean a full group of forwards. Or maybe roll with 7 D-men? Very strange...

Maybe it is nothing more than a way to not pay these guys their NHL salaries. Kind of a cheap move if that is the case...

Hmmm. Even if Kunitz and Asham are better, that still leaves us down a man with Cooke. And Goddard looked really bad the other night. Something would seem to be afoot. On the other hand, Jeffrey has looked OK from day 1; Tangradi and Wallace not so much.

There doesn't seem to be much in the way of UFAs on non-contenders.

So tomorrow could be an interesting day.
