The most glaring numbers to me are Matt Cooke's 0-0-0.

He needs to step it up. Having Kunitz and Jeffrey back can help and as today's Post Gazette article suggests Craig has some potential.

I may be the lone wolf on this but I think Asham still can be a contributor but he has been snake bitten this season. It was this time last year when he picked it up for the Cryers.

Lots of rumors swirling today. The hottest one involving the Penguins involves Alexei Kovalev. If it's for cheap (low round draft pick), might as well give it a shot.

Heard a local one that had the Wild and Pens talking. Nothing on the Wild excites me much, I know that Brunette and James Sheppard were mentioned on the radio this morning. If Bruno could be brought in cheap I'm on board with that move. But I have no interest in Sheppard. Don't really see what else the Wild can really offer the Penguins.

I know the Sens are desperate to unload Kovalev, but I am skeptical about how "cheap" he is actually going to be. Sounds like the Lightning are also in the hunt, and some believe that the Habs are looking to swoop in at the last minute to get him. Man, I LOVE the NHL trade deadline!!!

A 1st round pick, a conditional pick, and something called Joe Colborne is all that Kaberle was worth? Am I the only one that thinks Boston did a number on Toronto (again)?

ONLY if Kovi is cheap. I'm not a big fan of mortgaging future success to try and make it a round or two into the playoffs with a depleted lineup.

Cooke isn't producing at all in the 11 games, but he is also playing on what would be the 1st line and he is not 1st line player at all. He needs to be 3rd line and with no centers left it might be a little tough for his game. I mean look at Dupius and Kennedy when Adams is their center... Kennedy has gotten his pts when he is not on Adams line.

Bones- I don't see MN giving up Brunette on the cheap as they are fighting for a playoff spot. I would think they would want someone from our roster. My thought would be someone like a Kennedy or possibly Dupius. I am not sure on Dupius though. Who knows if they are looking for the future or want to trade a like wise UFA guy.

That is our only downside is that we have a lot of UFA's that probably won't be worth much in trading to get a guy. Guys like Kennedy, Johnson, Jeffrey, Staal, Gols, Tangs might be our only bargaining chips on some deals with the possiblity of Lovejoy, D'aversa, Bortuzzo, Strait or Sneep.

Cooke matched up against the other team's top defensive group is not a good fit for him to put it lightly.

I think the guys that the Pens are looking at could be acquired by draft picks, not players. Unless it is some kind of blockbuster like a Brad Richards (don't see that happening) I don't see Shero parting with any prospects. If players are involved you have to figure that some of these defensive prospects are in play, but not Despres.

Man, Tampa Bay could make a serious run.
