"Twenty Years Later" is a segment with a highly unimaginative name which will appear on Empty Netters throughout the 2010-11 season. We will examine the Penguins' 1990-91 season which led to the first Stanley Cup title in franchise history. We will look back on games on a particular date and catch up with former players, coaches, executives and media members who were a part or around that team.

Today, we look at the Penguins' 6-2 loss to the Flames, March 1, 1991.

Just over a minute later at 5:45, right winger Sergei Makarov increased the lead to 2-0 with a goal off assists from center Joe Niewendyk and left winger Gary Roberts.

Late in the first period at 19:47, center John Cullen got the Penguins on the scoreboard with a goal against goaltender Rick Wamsley. Assists went to right winger Scott Young and left winger Kevin Stevens.

A power play goal at 5:30 of the second period by center Mario Lemieux tied the game, 2-2. Assists were credited to right wingers Jaromir Jagr and Mark Recchi.

Less than a minute later at 6:27, left winger Robert Reichel put the Flames up for good with a goal. Defenseman Gary Suter recorded the lone assist.

Not even 30 seconds later at 6:55, Makarov scored his second goal off assists from Roberts and defenseman Frantisek Musil.

At 4:42 of the third period, right winger Mark Hunter put the Flames up 5-2. Reichel recorded the only assist.

Fleury scored the game's final goal at 7:01. Left winger Brian MacLellan and Reichel netted assists.

Notes:

-Barrasso recorded the loss after making 35 saves.

-The three stars were 1.) Fleury 2.) Reichel 3.) Makarov.
