-The Penguins held their annual Skates and Plates dinner.
-The Penguins also held their annual fantasy camp this past weekend:
-Happy 59th birthday to former Penguins forward Bernie Lukowich. A second-round pickin 1972, Lukowich appeared in 53 games for the 1973-74 club and recorded 19 points. Midway through the 1974-75 season, he was dealt to the rival Blues in exchange for Bob Stumpf.
-The Islanders recalled forward Jesse Joensuu from Bridgeport of the AHL.
-Scoreboard Watch for the Penguins: Shootout goals by Nigel Dawes gave the Canadiens a 3-2 win against the Lightning. Carey Price made 35 saves to earn the victory. Simon Gagne had a goal and an assist in regulation for Tampa Bay. The Lightning is in fifth place in the Eastern Conference with 88 points, two fewer than the fourth-place Penguins. The Canadiens are in sixth place with 85 points.
-Save of the Night: Tampa Bay's Dwayne Roloson on Montreal's Mike Cammalleri:
-Tampa Bay captan Vincent Lecavalier was kicked out the game for an ugly slash on Montreal's P.K. Subban:
-"He slew-footed me a couple of times in front of the net. And when I went around the net, he slashed me twice on the wrist, and that's when I turned around and slashed him back." - Lecavalier on the slash which led to an automatic $200 fine.
-Linesman Jonny Murray had a nice seat on the Canadiens' bench:

-The only team which can seem to beat the Devils is the lowly Senators. Two goals by Chris Neil led the Senators to a 3-1 win against the Devils. It was Ottawa's second win against New Jersey in as many weeks. Jason Spezza added two assists for the Senators while Curtis McElhinney made 33 saves in the victory.
-Down 2-1, the Devils had a goal called back with 1:27 when it was ruled forward Adam Mair was in the crease.
-Bruins forward Brad Marchand was suspended two games by the NHL for an elbow to the back of Columbus forward R.J. Umberger Tuesday:

-In the aftermath of forward Max Pacioretty's scary injury last week, the Canadiens added more padding to the turnbuckle near the benches of the Belle Centre.
-Maple Leafs assistant general manager Dave Nonis will serve as Team Canada's general manager for next month's IIHF World Championships.
-The Senators recalled defenseman David Hale and forward Roman Vick from Binghamton of the AHL.
-Scoreboard Watch for the Penguins: Shootout goals by Robbie Schremp and Blake Wheeler gave the Thrashers a 4-3 win against the Flyers. Ron Hainsey recorded two assists for Atlanta while Ondrej Pavelec made 21 saves in the victory. Daniel Briere netted two goals and an assist for Philadelphia in regulation. The Flyers are in first place of the Eastern Conference and Atlantic Division with 94 points, four more than the Penguins who are in fourth and second places respectively.
-Philadelphia's Daniel Carcillo and Atlanta's Mark Stuart had a fairly wild tilt:
“I’ll be honest with you, I don’t have a plan. I just go in and read off the goalie. I literally don’t know what I did. I just made a move, and that was what was open.” - Schremp on his shootout goal.
-Scott Clemmensen made 24 saves for the Panthers in a 4-0 shutout of the Maple Leafs. Sergei Samsonov and Stephen Weiss each had a goal and an assist for Florida.
-Fight Call of the Night: Check out this hit by Florida's Ryan Carter on Toronto's Mikhail Grabovski and the subsequent fight between Carter and Toronto's Keith "Muhammad" Aulie:
-Scoreboard Watch for the Penguins: Captain Shea Weber's overtime goal gave the Predators a 4-3 win against the Bruins. Sergei Kostitsyn, David Legwand and Colin Wilson each added a goal and an assist for Nashville while teammate Ryan Suter recorded two assists. Pekka Rinne made 35 saves in the victory. The Bruins are in third place in the Eastern Conference with 88 points, two less than the fourth-place Penguins.

-The Blue Jackets signed defenseman Anton Blomqvist, a fifth-round pick in 2009, to a three-year entry-level contract.
-Two goals by captain Jarome Iginla led the Flames to a 5-2 win at Colorado. Rene Bourque and Ales Kotalik each added a goal and an assist for Calgary while teammate Jay Bouwmeester recorded two assists. Miikka Kiprusoff made 27 saves in the victory. Matt Duchene netted two assists for the Avalanche which has lost 10 consecutive games and 20 out of its past 21 games.

-Avalanche defenseman Erik Johnson left the game in the first period after suffering an apparent leg injury.
-With forward Manny Malhotra out indefinitely due to an eye injury, the Canucks recalled forward Victor Oreskovich from Manitoba of the AHL.
-In the preseason, Canucks general manager Mike Gillis suggested a lighter workload for starting goaltender Roberto Luongo would keep him fresh for the postseason. Gillis also suggested 20 starts by backup goaltender Cory Schneider (right) would be ideal. Guess how many starts Schneider has made so far this season.
-The Oilers recalled forwards Chris Vande Velde, Ryan O’Marra and Alexandre Giroux from Oklahoma City of the AHL.
-“I think my modelling career is going to go down the drain.” - O'Marra on suffering a broken nose and two black eyes during an AHL game prior to the recall.
-Kari Lehtonen made 23 saves for the Stars in a 5-0 shutout of the Blackhawks. Jamie Benn and captain Brenden Morrow each had a goal and an assist for Dallas while teammates Mike Ribeiro and Brad Richards each recorded two assists.

-After being checked head first into the boards against the Stars Tuesday, Sharks defenseman Niclas Wallin missed last night's game due to an "upper-body" injury.
-Sharks forward Dany Heatley says he believes he hit Stars forward Steve Ott in the chest or shoulder and not the head during a collision in Tuesday's game against Dallas. The hit merited a two-game suspension for Heatley. Heatley also claims bad camera angles of the play helped earn him a suspension:
-With Heatley suspended, the Sharks recalled forward John McCarthy from Worcester (AHL).
-With forward Loui Eriksson dealing with an "upper-body" injury after being struck in the head Tuesday, the Stars recalled forward Brandon Segal from Texas of the AHL.
