Penguins

-Two goals by Brett Sterling led the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins to a 4-3 win against the Norfolk Admirals. Andrew Hutchinson recorded two assists for the Penguins while John Curry made 31 saves in the victory.

-Sterling left the game due to an "upper-body" injury in the third period.

-Peter Delmas made 24 saves for the Wheeling Nailers in a 3-2 shootout loss to the Reading Royals.

-Happy 46th birthday to the best goaltender in Penguins history:

-Today would've been the 73rd birthday of former Penguins forward Bill Hicke. Acquired prior to the 1971-72 season from the California Golden Seals in exchange for cash, Hicke's Penguins' career amounted to 12 games and two goals that season. In November of 1971, he was traded to the Red Wings in exchange for for cash. He passed away, July 18, 2005.

Atlantic Division

-Ilya Kovalchuk had a goal and an assist for the Devils in a 3-2 win against the Islanders. Nick Palmieri recorded two assists for New Jersey while Martin Brodeur made 27 saves in the victory. Frans Nielsen scored both of New York's goals.

-Islanders goon Trevor Gillies asks referee Bill McCreary if it's legal to elbow someone in the mustache:

-New Jersey's Jay Leach tells teammate David Clarkson about the horrors of driving in Newark:

-Despite the win, the Devils are one point away from being elimiated from postseason consideration.

-It sounds like Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist is dealing with a wonky right knee.

-The Islanders signed defenseman Matt Donovan, a fourth-round pick in 2008, to a three-year entry-level contract and assigned him to Bridgeport of the AHL.

Northeast Division

-Jhonas Enroth made 23 saves for the Sabres in a 1-0 shutout of the Rangers. It was Enroth's first career NHL shutout. Buffalo has won four out of its past five games.

-Sabres goaltender Ryan Miller was sidelined due to an "upper-body" injury. He is considered day to day.

-Maple Leafs overlord Brian Burke shot down any speculation head coach Ron Wilson would not return in 2011-12.

Southeast Division

-Two goals and an assist by Jeff Skinner led the Hurricanes to a 6-2 rout of the Canadiens. Jamie McBain also scored two goals for Carolina while teammate Cory Stillman added a goal and an assist. Cam Ward made 38 saves in the victory. Tomas Plekanec and James Wisniewski each recorded two assists for Montreal.

Central Division

-Here's the stunner of the night. Chris Porter had two goals and an assist for the Blues who destroyed the rival Red Wings in Detroit, 10-3. Yeesh. Vladimir Sobotka and Chris Stewart each netted a goal and two assists for St. Louis while teammates Patrik Berglun, B.J. Crombeen, Matt D'Agostini, Cam Janssen and Roman Polak each contributed a goal and an assist. Jaroslav Halak made 41 saves in the victory. Johan Franzen recorded two assists for Detroit.

-Detroit's Henrik Zetterberg > St. Louis' Adam Cracknell:

-"Today was a disgrace." - Red Wings forward Henrik Zetterberg.

-"We got embarrassed at home in front of our fans and got booed off the ice, and rightfully so. We were awful." - Red Wings captain Nicklas Lidstrom.

-The Blackhawks signed forward Jimmy Hayes to a three-year entry-level contract. Hayes, a second-round pick by the Maple Leafs in 2008, was acquired from Toronto last summer in exchange for another second-round pick.

-The Predators signed forward Austin Watson (right), a first-round pick last summer, to a three-year entry-level contract.

Northwest Division

-The Oilers signed goaltender Olivier Roy, a fifth-round pick in 2009, to a three-year entry-level contract.

-The Canucks have a chance at clinching the "dreaded" Presidents' Trophy tonight.

Pacific Division

-Two goals and an assist by Corey Perry led the Ducks to a 4-2 win against the Flames. Teammate Lubomir Visnovsky added a goal and an assist while Ray Emery made 23 saves in the victory. Captain Jarome Iginla and Mark Giorado each netted a goal and an assist for Calgary.

-Emery now has a record of 6-0-0 with a 1.90 goals-against average and .935 save percentage since joining the Ducks Feb. 7.

-Perry now has 46 goals on the season.

-Sharks captain Joe Thornton (right) is five points away from hitting the 1,000-point plateau in his career.
