The Penguins, hockey and more, by the PG's Seth Rorabaugh. |
With Saturday night's win, the Penguins moved one step closer to a bit of history.
By beating the Panthers, 4-2, the Penguins swept the season series with Florida for the first time in the history of the rivalry. Coupled with a season sweep of the Sabres, the Penguins have swept two series of at least four games within the same season for only the second time in franchise history.
The Penguins face the Thrashers Sunday in the final game of the season. With a 3-0-0 record against Atlanta in 2010-11, the Penguins could sweep three season series of four or more games for the first time in franchise history.
A look at the Penguins' all-time season sweeps (of four or more games):

Not only that, they'll have swept the Thrashers five times in 11 seasons. Wow.
BTW, love the broom logo.
