-For any Penguins fans in the area, the Lightning will put single-game playoff tickets on sale Wednesday.
-Two goals by Keven Veilleux led the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins to a 5-3 win against the Syracuse Crunch. Geoff Walker added a goal and an assist for the Penguins while teammate Nick Petersen recorded five assists. Brad Thiessen made 23 saves in the victory.
-Petersen set a franchise record for assists in a game.
-Thiessen also set a franchise record with his 34th win of the season.
-Happy 41th birthday to former Penguins forward Mike Needham (right). A sixth-round pick in 1989, Needham spent parts of three seasons with the Penguins. Recalled by the Penguins from Muskegon of the IHL during the 1992 playoffs, appreared in five games for the Penguins during that Stanley Cup run and scored a goal as the franchise won its second championship. Needham formed the short-lived "Muskegon Line" with Jock Callendar and Dave Michayluk. Needham spent the bulk of the 1992-93 season in Pittsburgh and recorded 13 points in 56 games. During that spring's postseason, he saw action in nine games and scored one goal. The following season, he appeared in 25 games and scored one goal for the Penguins before being traded to the Stars in exchange for Jim McKenzie. In 81 regular season games with the Penguins, Needham recorded 14 points. In 14 postseason games, he scored two goals.
-Happy 37th birthday to former Penguins forward Lasse Pirjeta. Acquired at the 2004 trade deadline in a deal which sent Brian Holzinger to the Blue Jackets, Pirjeta spent parts of two seasons with the Penguins. Pirjeta finished 2003-04 by playing in 13 games and scoring 12 points for the Penguins. Following the 2004-05 lockout, Pirjeta appeared in 25 games for the Penguins in 2005-06 and scored seven points. Midway through the season, he was assigned to Kloten of the NLA in Switzerland. In 38 games with the Penguins, he recorded 19 points.
-Scoreboard Watch for the Penguins: Shootout goals by former Penguin Erik Christensen and Wojtek Wolski gave the Rangers a 3-2 win at Philadelphia. Henrik Lundqvist made 32 saves in the victory. Claude Giroux recorded two assists for the Flyers. The Flyers are in first place in the Eastern Conference and Atlantic Division with 103 points, three more than the Penguins who are in fourth and second places respectively.
-New York's Bryan McCabe scored on a power play with 0.7 seconds left in the first period:
-“It’s still not the way to decide a hockey game.” - Rangers coach John Tortorella on the validity of shootouts.
-The Flyers recalled defenseman Danny Syvret from Adirondack of the AHL.
-The Devils signed undrafted forward Mike Sislo to a two-year entry-level contract.
-Marc-Andre Gragnani's overtime goal gave the Sabres a 2-1 win at Carolina. Drew Stafford recorded two assists for Buffalo while Jhonas Enroth made 35 saves in the victory.

-The Senators demoted defensemen Andre Benoit and Patrick Wiercioch to Binghamton of the AHL.
-Scoreboard Watch for the Penguins: Mike Smith made 31 saves for the Lightning in a 2-0 shutout of the Blackhawks. Simon Gagne recorded two assists for Tampa Bay. The Lightning is in fifth place in the Eastern Conference with 99 points, one less than the Penguins.

-Lightning captain Vincent Lecavalier left the game with a cut above his right eye.
-Jimmy Howard made 27 saves for the Red Wings in a 4-2 win against the Wild. Brian Rafalski and Henrik Zetterberg each recorded two assists for Detroit which clinched the Central Division title. Brad Stabitz had a goal and an assist for Minnesota.
-Detroit's Darren Helm being popular:

-Red Wings forward Pavel Datsyuk returned to the lineup after missing seven games due to an "upper-body" injury.
-Patrik Berglund scored two goals for the Blues in a 6-1 rout of the rival Blue Jackets. Alexander Steen added a goal and an assist for St. Louis while teammates Matt D'Agostini, Vladimir Sobotka and Chris Stewart each recorded two assists. Jaroslav Halak made 23 saves in the victory.
-Blue Jackets forward R.J. Umberger, a native of Plum (No really!), matched a franchise record by playing in his 243rd consecutive game.
-The Blue Jackets activated forward Kristian Huselius (hip/groin) from injured reserve and demoted forward Maksim Mayorov to Springfield of the AHL.
-A goal and an assist by Alex Tanguay led the Flames to a 2-1 defeat of the Avalanche. Miikka Kiprusoff made 34 saves in the victory which was Calgary's third out of its past four games.
-Cool Photo of the Night: Colorado's Ryan Wilson and Calgary captain Jarome Iginla racing after a puck:

-The Wild recalled forwards forwards Colton Gillies and Carson McMillan from Houston of the AHL.
-Avalanche forward Paul Stastny will miss the rest of the regular season due to a stress fracture in his right leg.
-A goal and two assists by captain Brenden Morrow led the Stars to a 4-3 win at Anaheim. Jeff Woywitka added a goal and an assist for Dallas while teammate Mike Ribeiro recorded two assists. Kari Lehtonen made 24 saves for the Stars. Corey Perry had a goal and an assist for the Ducks.
