The Penguins signed defensive prospect Philip Samuelsson to a three-year, entry-level contract. A second-round pick in 2009, Samuelsson, 21, is the son of former Penguins defenseman Ulf Samuelsson (above).
Samuelsson (6-foot-2, 198 pounds) just completed his sophomore season with Boston College. In 39 games in 2010-11, he had 16 points (four goals, 12 assists).
He was a member of Boston College's national championship team in 2010.
