The Penguins, hockey and more, by the PG's Seth Rorabaugh. |
At least one portion of the Penguins organization won a playoff series today.
A natural hat trick by defenseman Steve Wagner in the first period led the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins to a 6-3 home win against the Norfolk Admirals. The victory clinched an Eastern Conference semifinal series for the Penguins, 4-2. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton overcame a 2-0 deficit to clinch the series.
Brad Thiessen made 28 saves in the victory.
Ironically enough, the Admirals are the AHL affiliate of the Tampa Bay Lightning.
The Penguins advance to the East Division final and will play the winner of the series between the rival Hershey Bears and the Charlotte Checkers
