The Penguins, hockey and more, by the PG's Seth Rorabaugh. |

(Note: Our live blog begins at approximately 7 p.m. Please tune in.)
-"I always felt that people here believed in me." - Alex Kovalev (above) on returning to Pittsburgh.
-"Seriously, we have nothing to get out of that game." - Ben Lovejoy on Game 6.
-Dan Bylsma speaks:
-The Lightning hope to be busy around the Penguins' net.
-"You have time to reflect on it but don't dwell on it. Forget about it and move forward." - Dwayne Roloson on how he reacts after wins or losses.
-With their AHL affiliate eliminated from the postseason (at the hands of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins no less), the Lightning recalled forwards Mattias Ritola, Blair Jones and goaltender Dustin Tokarski from the Norfolk Admirals.
-Rangers forward Sean Avery accused Capitals forward Brooks Laich of biting his hand in Game 5.
-An overtime goal and an assist by Ville Leino gave the Flyers a wild 5-4 win against the Sabres in Game 6. The series is tied, 3-3. Daniel Briere had two goals for the Philadelphia while teammate Scott Hartnell contributed a goal and an assist. Brian Boucher made 24 saves in the victory. Thomas Vanek scored two goals for Buffalo.
-Leino's goal:
-Check out this goal by Vanek:
-The Flyers started Michael Leighton in net but pulled him in favor of Boucher after he gave up three goals on seven shots.
-Leighton had a lot of support in Buffalo as you can see:

-Sabres forward Tim Connolly suffered a head injury when he was hit into the boards from behind by Flyers captain Mike Richards:
-"If Mike Richards thinks we're getting away with murder, I don't know what he got away with. Mass murder? Are we stepping it up a notch? Unbelievable. We lose a player for the rest of the game off of a hit that the league has been talking about that is dangerous. They (the league) better seriously consider looking at that one." - Miller. Earlier in the series, Richards accused the Sabres of "getting away with murder."
-Happy times in Buffalo:

-Flyers coach Peter Laviolette confirmed Boucher would start Game 7.
-Flyers defenseman Chris Pronger returned to the lineup for the first time since suffering a hand injury March 8 but he was limited to five shifts, all on the power play.
-Sabres forward Patrick Kaleta was accused by the Flyers of ridiculing Briere and teammate Scott Hartnell over their recent divorces.
-Briere now has 92 career points in 92 career postseason games.
-Canadiens forward Desharnais is dealing with a knee injury.
-Ben Smith's overtime goal gave the Blackhawks a stunning 4-3 win against the Canucks. The series is tied, 3-3. Dave Bolland had a goal and an assist for Chicago while Corey Crawford made 32 saves in the victory. Alex Burrows netted a goal and two assists for Vancouver.
-Smith's goal:
-Canucks coach Alain Vigneault stunned the world when he started Cory Schneider in goal in place of all-star Roberto Luongo. However, Schneider was injured after failing to stop this penalty shot by Chicago's Michael Frolik:
-“All year long, we’ve used both goalies, and to tell you the truth, I just went with my gut.” - Vigneault on why he started Schneider instead of Luongo.
-Schneider was not seriously injured on the play.
-Vigneault would not name his starting goaltender for Game 7.
-"He's just as good as I am and it doesn't matter who is in net." - Luongo on Schneider.
-Schneider and his water bottle had issues with this puck:

-Happy times in Chicago:

-“We feel so much in control.” - Bolland.
-Blackhawks defenseman Brent Seabrook returned to the lineup after missing two games due to a head injury.
-Should they win Game 7, the Blackhawks would join the 1942 Maple Leafs, the 1975 Islanders and the 2010 Flyers as the only teams to rally from a 3-0 series deficit.
-Hockey Night in Canada's pregame montage was intense:
-"I just feel more experienced, to be honest with you. Last year was a whirlwind. This year, I know what to expect and how fine of a line it is." - Red Wings goaltender Jimmy Howard on his second postseason as a starter.
-Despite being pulled in Game 5, Sharks goaltender Antti Niemi will start Game 6.
-Kings forward Dustin Penner had his minutes cut in Game 5... and he actually played better as a result.
-Two goals from Nick Spaling led the Predators to a series-clinching 4-2 win against the Ducks. Nashville won the series, 4-2. Teammate Jordin Tootoo recorded two assists while Pekka Rinne made 25 saves in the victory.
-Goal of the Night: Nashville's Steve Sullivan:
-Referee Paul Devorski did a little cleaning at the expense of Nashville's Shane O'Brien:
-Happy times in Nashville:

-Hand shake times:

-Nashville's Shea Weber and Anaheim's Corey Perry shaking hands:

-Nashville's David Legwand being popular:

-Anaheim's Ray Emery and Nashville's Joel Ward kept their eyes on this puck:

-Ducks captain Ryan Getlzaf apparently felt a need to prove he was wearing deodorant to Devorski:

-We think.
-The Predators won a playoff series for the first time in franchise history.
-"They don't remember who wins the first round. You have to continue to work hard and try to get more wins." - Predators defenseman Ryan Suter.
-"You cannot give up four goals and expect to win consistently. And I thought we provided enough offense in the series but we didn't provide enough defense." - Ducks coach Randy Carlyle.
-Ducks forward Teemu Selanne declined to answer a question regarding his future after this season.

-Happy 38th birthday to former Penguins forward Alek Stojanov. Acquired at the 1996 trade deadline in an imfamous deal which sent future all-star Markus Naslund to the Canucks, Stojanov spent parts of two seasons with the Penguins. He finished the 1995-96 season by appearing in 10 games for the Penguins and scored one goal. In nine postseason games that spring, he failed to record a point. The 1996-97 season saw him play in 35 games and score five points. After a serious car accident, he he spent the 1997-98 season with Syracuse of the AHL. Following that season, the Penguins released him. Stojanov appeared in 45 regular season games for the Penguins and scored six points. The trade with Vancouver is considered one of the worst in franchise history.
-Happy 27th birthday to former Penguins goaltender Andy Chiodo. A seventh-round pick in 2003, Chiodo's only NHL season saw him spend eight games with the 2003-04 Penguins. He had a record of 3-4-1 during that span and sported a 3.64 goals against average and .892 save percentage. Chiodo's biggest claim to Penguins fame was the fact he was the winning goaltender in a 4-3 overtime win at Phoenix, Feb. 25, 2004. That win snapped a franchise record 18-game winless streak. After spending the 2004-05 and 2005-06 seasons with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and Wheeling, Chiodo signed with Jokerit Helsinki in Finland during the 2006 offseason. He is currently a member of Klagenfurter AC in the EBHL in Austria.
-Happy 58th birthday to former Penguins forward Bob Stumpf. Acquired midway through the 1974-75 season in a deal which sent Bernie Lukowich to the Blues, Stumpf finished his only NHL season by appearing in three games for the Penguins and failed to record a point.. He retired from professioinal hockey after spending the following season with Hershey of the AHL.
-Blue Jackets captain Rick Nash was named as captain of Team Canada for the IIHF World Championships. Atlanta’s Andrew Ladd, Toronto's Dion Phaneuf, Ottawa's Jason Spezza and New Jersey's Travis Zajac will serve as alternate captains.
