Who needs to be the difference for the Capitals: Mike Green, John Carlson (above), Karl Alzner, etc. The Capitals' blue line played a significant role in shutting down the Rangers offense in the first round. That said, New York's offense was pretty bad. The Lightning have some elite scorers in the former of St. Louis, Steven Stamkos and Vincent Lecavalier (above). They'll have their hands full with Tampa Bay's forwards.
Who needs to be the difference for the Lightning: Eric Brewer, Mattias Ohlund, Victor Hedman, etc. The Lightning led the postseason after the first round with 145 blocked shots. Their blue liners did a good job of collapsing around their own net. They prevented quality scoring chances by the Penguins admittedly stagnant offense and made life easy on Dwayne Roloson. They'll need to do the same against a much better Capitals offense.

EN Prediction: On paper, you would expect a series with a few first overall picks and Hart Trophy winners to be a dazzling display on offense. But in practice, this series will be a repeat of what we saw between the Penguins and Lightning. This will be a tight, edgy series with lots of safe defensive play. Both teams have bought into a defense-first approach. The Capitals have a slight edge in talent and skill and that should be the difference. Capitals 4-2.
