-"24/7 Penguins/Capitals: Road to the NHL Winter Classic" won a on a Sports Emmy Award for "Outstanding Edited Sports Special." Girls Love.
-Calder Cup Playoffs: Brad Thiessen made 21 saves for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 2-1 overtime loss to the Charlotte Checkers in Game 3 of their East Division final series. Charlotte leads the series, 2-1.
-Happy 45th birthday to former Penguins defenseman Jeff Chychrun. Acquired along with Brian Benning and a draft pick in a deal which sent Paul Coffey to the Kings prior to the 1992 trade deadline, Chychrun spent parts of two seasons with the Penguins. He finished the 1991-92 season by appearing in 16 games for the Penguins and recorded one assist. While he didn't appear in the playoffs that spring, he did get his name engraved on the Stanley Cup for the club's 1992 championship. After appearing in one game for the Penguins in the following season, Chychrun was dealt back to the Kings in exchange for Empty Netters hero Peter Ahola. In 17 regular season games, Chychrun recorded one assist:
-Tampa Bay's Dwayne Roloson is only the sixth goaltender over the age of 40 to record six or more wins in a single postseason. Jacques Plant (eight in 1969) and Dominik Hasek (10 with the 2007 Detroit Red Wings) are the others.
-"This is about whoever wins four games, not two. Obviously we are happy with the results, but we've done nothing yet.'' - Lightning forward Martin St. Louis.
-Maybe it wasn't just the Penguins. The Capitals are 0 for 11 on the power play in this series.
-David Krejci's overtime goal led the Bruins to a 3-2 overtime win against the Flyers in Game 2. The Bruins have a 2-0 series lead. Tim Thomas made 52 saves in the win.
-Krejci's goal required a video review:
-"Timmy totally stole this one for us tonight." - Bruins defenseman Dennis Seidenberg on Thomas.
-Bruins defenseman Adam McQuaid left the game in the first first period after he took a scary tumble into the end boards when he missed on attempted check against Flyers captain Mike Richards. Despite being briefly hospitalized, he flew home with his team.

-Slumping Canucks forward and former Penguin Mikael Samuelsson has been dumped from the first line to the fourth line.
-There aren't many "Newfies" (I.E. natives of Newfoundland) in the NHL. Two of them, Detroit's Dan Cleary and San Jose's Ryane Clowe, are going at it in this series.
-Penguins defenseman Zbynek Michalek recorded an assist for the Czech Republic in a 6-0 shutout of Denmark.

Bailey, a player with the Bruins, Blues, Red Wings, Capitals and Oilers, was killed in the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11.
