-The Penguins signed Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins forward Zach Sill (right) to a two-year two-way contract.
-A new T.G.I. Friday's is scheduled to open in Consol Energy Center Friday.
-Former Penguins defenseman Sven Butenschon has joined the Nürnberg Ice Tigers of the DEL in Germany.
-Former Penguins forward Ronald Petrovicky is trying his hand at boxing. You may remember Petrovicky for his knockout of former Maple Leafs forward Kris Newbury during the 2006-07 season:
-Happy 48th birthday to former Penguins forward Doug Smith. Acquired midway through the 1989-90 season in exchange for cash, Smith's NHL career ended with 10 games and two points with the Penguins that campaign. In the 1990 offseason, he joined ATSE Graz in Austria.

-Having solved all its other problems, the NHL is demanding $89,000 from a Montreal restaurateur who dared put a Canadiens logo and a "Go Habs Go" sign in the window of one of his restaurants.
Southeast Division-According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Atlanta Spirit, the ownership group of the Thrashers, is in negotiations with the True North Sports and Entertainment, a Winnipeg based group which has been trying to bring an NHL franchise back to Winnipeg for several years.
-Former Penguins captain Ron Francis (right) is expected to give up his associate coaching position with the Hurricanes and take a full-time front office position with the club.
-Predators forward Mike Fisher underwent shoulder surgery.
-The Flames officially hired acting general manager Jay Feaster as the fulltime general manager.
-Calgary signed unrestricted free agent forward Curtis Glencross (right) to a four-year contract worth $10.2 million. He will have a salary cap worth $2.55.
-The Stars signed defenseman John Klingberg, a fifth-round pick in 2010, to a three-year entry level contract.
