The Penguins, hockey and more, by the PG's Seth Rorabaugh. |

-Welcome back Ryan Craig (above).
-"At this point I'd had enough of Mario as well, and I unloaded on him verbally. I questioned his ability to be the captain of his team and that his teammates didn't even follow him. I pointed to Paul Coffey standing on the blue line and said, "If you want to know how to be a leader, take a look at that guy." - Former NHL referee Kerry Fraser on a shouting match he had with former Penguins captain Mario Lemieux.
-Penguins co-owner Ron Burkle now wants to buy the NBA's Sacramento Kings or bring an expansion franchise to Sacramento should the Kings relocate.
-Happy 82nd birthday to former Penguins coach Johnny Wilson. Hired in the 1977 offseason, Wilson spent three seasons as the team's head coach. During his tenure, Wilson coached 240 games and had a record of 91-105-44 and reached the playoffs two times. He was replaced in the 1980 offseason by Eddie Johnston.
-A goal and an assist by Michael Ryder helped the Bruins beat the Canucks, 5-2, in Game 6. Former Penguin Mark Recchi recorded three assists for Boston while teammate Tomas Kaberle added two assists. Fire Ray Shero. Tim Thomas made 36 saves in the victory. Daniel Sedin recorded two assists for Vancouver.
-Goal of the Night: Boston's Brad Marchand with this laser on the short side:
-"It was good shot, but at the same time, I've got to make that save. He put it where he wanted it but I've got to make that save." - Canucks goaltender Roberto Luongo on the goal.
-Ryder's goal came off a pretty slick re-direction:
-Check out this screen by Recchi which led to goal by another former Penguin, Andrew Ference:
-Fire Ray Shero and Craig Patrick.
-Check out this pass by Recchi to set up David Krejci for a goal:
-Fire Ray Shero.
-It wasn't all bad for Vancouver. Check out this goal by captain Henrik Sedin:
-A good look at the goal:

-Save of the Night: Thomas denying Vancouver's Ryan Kesler on a wraparoun attempt:
-A good look at the save:

-Hit of the Night: Boston's Dennis Seidenberg AND Brad Marchand on Vancouver's Christopher Higgins:
-Canucks forward Mason Raymond left the game and was hospitalized just 20 seconds into the game after an odd-looking hit by Boston's Johnny Boychuk:
-The Canucks are asking the NHL to review the hit.
-Thinking Out Loud: That hit seem unfortunate more than anything. Just two players battling in the corner and one of them hit the boards awkwardly.
-Things got so bad for the Canucks, Henrik Sedin pretty much ignored his personal hygiene here:

-And here:

-Boston's Adam McQuaid > Vancouver's Maxime Lapierre:

-Boston's Tomas Kaberle > Vancouver's Andrew Alberts:

-Ginger on ginger violence: Boston's Shawn Thornton versus Vancouver's Raffi Torres:

-Alberts didn't provide a nice reception in his crease for Boston's Tyler Seguin:

-The most consistent part of Luongo's night was how he handled the gate to the bench:

-Bright times in Boston:

-Happy times for Thomas and captain Zdeno Chara:

-Thomas being popular:

-Vancouver backup goaltender Corey Schneider's face pretty much says it all:

-Things weren't much better for Canucks fans at Rogers Arena in Vancouver:

-Mark Recchi, refusing to accept reality regarding his cranium:

-"We're going to win Game 7." - Daniel Sedin.
-Luongo, who critiqued Thomas' effort in Game 5, was pulled after allowing three goals in just 8:35 of action.
-Despite the goaltending change, Canucks coach Alain Vigneault said Luongo would be his starter in Game 7.
-“I’m not going to go there.” - Thomas when asked to assess Luongo's Game 6.
-This Bruins fan offered an opinion on Luongo's comments:

-"The game would have been different. The first goal is huge. They get a lot of momentum when they get the first goal. But it was a bouncing puck, I had to hit it out of the air. Thomas was partly there and I was trying to get it over his pad. It could have happened. I could have got it. But I didn't." - Henrik Sedin on a near scoring chance he missed on just 22 seconds into the game.
-"This is what we dream of, when you're little kids playing street hockey, you know, you're in Game 7." - Recchi.
-"We know what the prize is. If you told us back in September that we'd have Game 7 in Vancouver for the Stanley Cup final we would have taken it all day long. So nothing changes for us." - Canucks forward Manny Malhotra.
-Thomas has tied former Canucks goaltender Kirk McLean's record for saves in a postseason at 761. McLean set his record during the 1994 postseason.
-The last time Ference was in a Game 7, his Flames lost to the Lightning in 2004.
-Injured Bruins forward Nathan Horton was on hand and was offered a standing ovation:
-Former Bruins captain and coach Milt Schmidt, 93, served as the teams' honoray captain last night:

-Don Cherry may have set a new standard with his suit last night:
-The Senators have hired Red Wings assistant coach Paul MacLean as their head coach.
-The Lightning re-signed restricted free agent defenseman Mike Vernace to a one-year, two-way contract.
Central Division-The Blues re-signed unrestricted forward Chris Porter (right) to a one-year two-way contract.
-"I think I am the right guy." - Former Penguins Mike Yeo assistant coach on the Wild's vacant head coaching position. Yeo is currently the head coach of Minnesota's AHL affiliate in Houston.
-The Coyotes hired former Flames coach Jim Playfair as an associate coach.
-According to the Dallas Morning News, the Stars will name Glen Gulutzan as their next head coach. He is currently head coach of their AHL affiliate, the Texas Stars.
