Penguins

-According to the team's Web site, former Penguins goaltender John Curry (above) has joined the Hamburg Freezers of the DEL in Germany.

-The Civic Arena's future is still up in the air.

-The agent for former Penguins captain Jaromir Jagr has contacted Red Wings general manager Ken Holland about joining his team.

-Happy 65th birthday to former Penguins forward Derek Sanderson. A star with the Bruins during their Stanley Cup days in the early 1970s, Sanderson capped off his 13-year NHL career by signing with the Penguins late in the the 1977-78 season and and appearing in 13 games while scoring four points. "Turk" retired in the 1978 offseason.

Playoff Stuff

Canucks - Bruins

-Tim Thomas made 37 saves for the Bruins and led them to a 4-0 shutout of the Canucks in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final. Brad Marchand had two goals and an assist for Boston while teammate Patrice Bergeron added two goals. The Bruins claimed their first Stanley Cup title since 1972.

-Thomas set quite a few postseason goaltending records. He now holds the postseason record for saves (798) and shots faced (849) and he set the mark for saves in a Stanley Cup Final with 238. Additionally, Thomas became the first visiting goaltender in to record a shutout in Game 7 of a Cup Final.

-Bruins forward Milan Lucic got to celebrate the Stanley Cup win in his hometown.

-Prior to the game, injured Bruins forward Nathan Horton was spotted on camera pouring melted ice from Boston's TD Garden on the ice of Rogers Arena:

-"Yeah, I wanted to put that on their ice and make it our ice. I was trying to be sneaky but I got caught by the camera." - Horton.

-Horton got his hands on the Cup too:

-“It’s up to the offensive guys, and that’s me and Danny foremost. We couldn’t get it done.” - Canucks captain Henrik Sedin on the offensive struggles of himself and his brother Daniel.

-The Sedins managed to combine for only five points in the series.

-The Canucks managed only eight goals in seven games during the final.

-"I really thought we were going to win. I can't put it into words right now." - Canucks forward Ryan Kesler.

-"This is absolutely the worst feeling of my career. It just feels terrible. I don't really have anything good to say about it.”- Canucks defenseman Alexander Edler who admitted he played through two broken fingers.

-A man wearing a Bruins jersey fell 50 feet from a pedestrian walkwall at Rogers Arena and was hospitalized.

-The Capitals re-signed restricted free-agent defenseman Patrick McNeill to a two-year two-way contract.

Central Division

-The Blackhawks promoted former Penguins defenseman Marc Bergevin from director of player personnel to assistant general manager.

Northwest Division

-The Avalanche signed former Blue Jackets/Coyotes forward Joakim Lindstrom, to a one-year contract worth $600,000.

-Avalanche assistant coach Steve Konowalchuk is leaving the team to become the head coach of the Seattle Thunderbirds of the Western Hockey League.

Pacific Division

-Former Sharks defenseman Niclas Wallin has joined Lulea HF of the Elitserien in Sweden.

Careful, Jagr. The last time a KHL player tried to get on the Red Wings, look where he ended up.

Also, Vancouver fans have thoroughly sickened me. Glad their team lost.

Someone needs to tell Vancouver fans its not life or death...its hockey, there are bigger fish to fry in life...quit the riots.

It's frustrating that this sort of behaviour seems to becoming a trend some places, an excuse to be stupid.
