The Penguins, hockey and more, by the PG's Seth Rorabaugh. |
We'll be previewing the seven NHL awards which count throughout the day. (Sorry Lady Byng fans.) Here we'll preview the Ted Lindsay Award which goes to "to the most outstanding player in the NHL as voted by fellow members of the National Hockey League Players' Association." We will also be hosting a live chat for the awards show beginning at 7 p.m. Click here to join the fun.
Corey Perry, RW - Anaheim Ducks (50 goals, 48 assists, 98 points, +9)
Daniel Sedin, RW - Vancouver Canucks (42 goals, 63 assists, 104 points, +30)
Steven Stamkos - Tampa Bay Lightning (45 goals, 46 assists, 91 points, +3)
Who we'd vote for: Perry. It's a tough call for trying to decide between Perry and Sedin, but we'll give the edge to Perry on account that he takes regular shifts shorthanded. Sedin offers next to nothing as a penalty killer. Additionally, Perry was the only player in the league this season to hit the 50-goal mark.
Who will win: Sedin. Perry isn't exactly a very beloved player by his fellow members of the NHLPA who vote on the award. He is an antagonist on the ice and hasn't exactly made many friends on opposing teams.
