Pat Brisson, the agent for Penguins forward Maxime Talbot, has shot down a repot by Canadian broadcaster RDS which stated that the Penguins have dealt the signing rights to forward Maxime Talbot to the Maple Leafs. The report did not state what the Penguins received in return. He is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent Friday.
Talbot, 27, appeared in all 82 regular season games for the Penguins last season and scored 21 points (eight goals, 13 assists). A key member of the team's league-best penalty kill, Talbot was fourth on the squad in shorthanded ice time per game at 2:55.
A member of the Penguins' Stanley Cup championship team in 2009, Talbot has been a member of the Penguins organization since being drafted in the eighth-round in 2002. He scored the Cup-clinching goal in a 2-1 defeat of the Red Wings in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final.
In 388 regular season games with the Penguins, Talbot, one of the team's most popular players, has scored 108 points.

Toronto had a 48 hour negotiating window with Talbot that expired this afternoon/evening without them reaching terms. Hence, Max's rights are still owned by the Pens until Friday.
