I'd tell Jagr that the offer is good until 12:01 tomorrow.

If his mind isn't made up to play here...then his mindset is not right to play here.

And his legacy here will be dirt.

I wasn't sure if I wanted him back when this came up a couple of weeks ago. All this feet dragging isn't giving me the warm and fuzzies.

His legacy doesn't need to become dirt. If he never plays again for the Penguins, he's still one of the all time greatest. I said it before and I'm saying it now, he deserves to have his numbers in the rafters no matter what.

If Jagr's reputation becomes dirt, it's not because of Jagr. I think he's done a total of two or three interviews since March on this. He left his options open from the very beginning. If someone reading those quotes took just the words about Pittsburgh in those interviews and somehow turned that into" I am definitely coming back to Pittsburgh" that's their fault for picking and choosing words, not Jagr's.

Jagr said a lot of good things about Pittsburgh. That's certainly true.

But he also said this:

"New York, I always had a great feeling about that city. They gave me a second chance. I never forget about that," Jagr told the newspaper. "And Montreal and Canada, it's totally different hockey. The fans are crazy about hockey and I've never played in Canada in my life. You never know."

If people were paying attention and listening from the beginning they'd notice he wanted to keep his options open. However, Pittsburgh fans heard; "I want to come back to Pittsburgh".

That's not necessarily the case the case and never was. All this self-imposed frenzy is a combination of media hype and Yinzer teeth gnashing. It's not Jagr's doing and his legacy shouldn't be the victim of its wrath if he doesn't sign here.
