The Penguins, hockey and more, by the PG's Seth Rorabaugh. |
The Penguins have signed minor-league forward Colin McDonald to a one-year two-way contract. In 80 games last season with the Oklahoma City Barons, the Oilers' AHL affiliate, McDonald led the league with 42 goals while adding 16 assists for 58 points.
McDonald, 26, last played in the NHL with the Oilers in 2009-10 when he appeared in two games and scored one goal.
McDonald (6-foot-3, 205 pounds), was a second-round pick of the Oilers in 2003.
Note: Former Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins defenseman Corey Potter joined the Oilers on a one-year two-way contract. In 75 AHL games, Potter scored 37 points (seven goals, 30 assists). He saw action in one NHL game with the Penguins last season and failed to record a point.
EN Says: This looks like another Brett Sterling "tweener" type of player the Penguins are fond of bringing in. He's a guy who has some scoring touch at that level and could contribute something at the NHL level in small spurts.
