The Penguins, hockey and more, by the PG's Seth Rorabaugh. |
It's not quite Marian Hossa, but another former Penguin has gone to Detroit.
Forward Chris Conner has signed a one-year contract with the Red Wings. Financial terms were not revealed but Ansar Khan of Michigan Live suggests it is a two-way contract.
Conner, 27, appeared in 60 regular games last season and scored 16 points (seven goals, nine assists). He appeared in all seven of the team's postseason game and scored one goal.
A native of Westland, Mich., Conner (5-foot-8, 180 pounds) spent much of the season on a makeshift third line with Mark Letestu and Tyler Kennedy which many dubbed "The Buzzers."
With Conner in the lineup, the Penguins went 39-14-7 with 85 points (.708 point percentage). Without him, they were 10-11-1 for 21 points (.477).
EN Says: Conner doesn't really offer much with the puck, but he is able to create quite a few things offensively with his speed. He's nothing but hustle and heart, but his skills with the puck are mediocre at best.
