The Penguins, hockey and more, by the PG's Seth Rorabaugh. |

-At 23, Eric Tangradi (above) is the old man at the Penguins' prospect development camp.

-Joe Morrow speaks:
-OMG! The #Penguins are popular on Twitter.
-The Pensblog spotted the best picture of Evgeni Malkin and a dolphin you'll see all day.
-Former Penguins forward Eric Boguniecki was hired as an assistant coach with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, the Islanders AHL affiliate.
Northeast Division-The Maple Leafs re-signed former Penguins forward the great Mike Zigomanis (right) to a one-year two-way contract. In eight games last season he recorded one assist.
-The Panthers signed former Blues defenseman Tyson Strachan to a one-year two-way contract.
-The Blues signed former Sharks forward Jonathan Cheechoo to a one-year two-way contract. A former Rocket Richard Trophy winner as the NHL's leading goal-scorer, Cheechoo has not played in the NHL since 2009-10.
-The Blackhawks re-signed forward Rob Klinkhammer (one year) and goaltender Alec Richards (two years). Financial terms were not revealed.
-Red Wings general manager Ken Holland became a United States citizen.
Northwest Division-The Avalanche re-signed forward T.J. Galiardi (right) to a one-year contract worth a total of $700,000. In 35 games last season, he had 15 points (seven goals, eight assists).
-The Wild signed defenseman Jonas Brodin, its first-round pick last month and forwards Johan Larsson and Brett Bulmer, second-round picks in 2010, to entry-level contracts.
-The Flames signed defenseman C.J. Severyn, a native of Beaver, Pa., to an AHL contract. Calgary drafted him in the seventh round of the 2007 draft.
-The Ducks acquired forward Andrew Cogliano from the Oilers in exchange for a second-round pick in 2013. In 82 games last season, Cogliano scored 35 points (11 goals, 24 assists).
-EN Says: Cogliano is a player who seems to have hit a wall in Edmonton after a few pretty productive seasons early in in his career. The Oilers have been stockpiling a ton of young talent, particularly up front among the top-six forward, through the draft and there didn't appear to be much room for Cogliano any longer, especially with his declining production. Perhaps a change of scenery will provide him with a re-boot.
-The Kings re-signed restricted free agent forward Brad Richardson (right) to a two-year contract worth a total of $2.35 million. He will have a salary cap hit of $1.175 million. In 68 games last season, he scored 19 points (seven goals, 12 assists).
-EN Says: Richardson is an energy third-line type who can kick in a few goals here or there. Despite being a little bit on the small side, he's not afraid to mix it up. In this market, $1.175 million isn't a bad cap hit for that type of player.
-The Coyotes hired former Thrashers head coach John Anderson as an assistant coach.
-James Mirtle of the Globe and Mail takes a look at some of the top free agents still available.
-Former Mighty Ducks/Hurricanes/Senators/Maple Leafs/Oilers goaltender Martin Gerber has joined Växjö Lakers of the Elitserien in Sweden.
-Former Thrashers/Blue Jackets/Ducks/Red Wings forward Mark Hartigan has joined Rapperswil of the NLA in Switzerland.
