-During the Penticon, B.C. prospects tournament, Vancouver's Adam Polasek rocked Edmonton's Colten Teubert:
-The Kings are still trying to re-sign restricted free agent defenseman Drew Doughty.
-Lokomotiv Yaroslavl Alexander Galimov, the only play to initially survive his time devastating plane crash last week, died as a result of his injuries. He was 26.
-Flyers forward and former Penguins captain Jaromir Jagr participated in a memorial ceremony in Prague to honor fellow Czech players Karel Rachunek, Jan Marek and Josef Vasicek. All three died in last week's plane crash in Yaroslavl, Russia.
-“I definitely would love to donate my brain to Boston if they would take it.” - Former Avalanche/Flames/Maple Leafs/Panthers/Predators enforcer Wade Belak regarding the Sports Legacy Institute at Boston University in an interview with the Nashville Tennesseean Aug. 3. Belak passed away four week later Aug. 31. The institute has collected various athletes' brains and has found a degenerative brain disease, Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy, linked to concussions in athletes in contact sports.

Was at the rookie Leafs vs. Pens game last night. Our goalie didn't exactly steal the show. Despres can really wheel, though, and Grant looked alright. Too bad the offense didn't seem interested in scoring, but the chances they did have, the Leafs' goalie (Sparks) stopped; he had a strong game and was named the first star.
