-The Rangers demoted goaltenders Chad Johnson, Jason Missiaen, Cameron Talbot, defensemen  Lee Baldwin, Collin Bowman, Sam Klassen, Tomas Kundratek, Jyri Niemi, Jared Nightingale, Pavel Valentenko, forwards Jonathan Audy-Marchessault, Tommy Grant, Jordan Hickmott, Tayler Jordan, Kale Kerbashian, Chad Kolarik, Chris McKelvie, Matt Rust, Scott Tanski, Kelsey Tessier and Jason Wilson to Connecticut of the AHL and assigned defensemen Peter Ceresnak (Peterborough - OHL), Samuel Noreau (Baie-Comeau,  - QMJHL), forwards  Shane McColgan (Kelowna - WHL), J.T. Miller (Plymouth - OHL), Michael St. Croix (Edmonton - WHL), Christian Thomas (Oshawa - OHL), Andrew Yogan (Peterborough - OHL) to their junior teams. The team also placed defenseman Wade Redden on waivers.

-The Flyers demoted forwards Jason Akeson, Tyler Brown, Garrett Roe, Garrett Klotz, Shane Harper, Ben Holmstrom, Tye McGinn, Luke Pither, Mike Testwuide, Eric Wellwood, defensemen Marc-Andre Bourdon, Tyler Hostetter, Blake Kessel, Oliver Lauridsen, Kevin Marshall Cullen Eddy, and goaltender Brad Phillips to Adirondack of the AHL. They also placed defenseman Jon Kalinski and forward Stefan Legein on waivers.

Northeast Division

-Jhonas Enroth made 19 saves for the Sabres in a 3-2 win against the Maple Leafs.

-Two goals from Chris Neil helped the Senators defeat the Canadiens, 3-2.

-Maple Leafs forward Matthew Lombardi was given medical clearance for contact in practice. He has been sidelined since November when he suffered a concussion while playing for the Predators.

-The Sabres placed forward Ales Kotalik and defenseman Shaone Morrisson on waivers.

-The Bruins demoted defensemen Nathan McIver, Andrew Bodnarchuk, Kevan Miller, Ryan Button, Marc Cantin, Carter Camper, forwards Jamie Tardif, Craig Cunningham, Josh Hennessy, Kirk MacDonald to Providence of the AHL and assigned forwards Alexander Khokhlachev (Windsor - OHL), Jared Knight (London - OHL), Ryan Spooner (Kingston Frontenacs - OHL) and defenseman Dougie Hamilton (Niagara - OHL) to their junior teams.

Southeast Division

-Former Penguins goaltender Mathieu Garon made 24 saves for the Lightning in a 5-3 defeat of the Panthers. Fire Ray Shero.

-The Hurricanes placed forwards Justin Soryal and Nicolas Blanchard and defenseman Brett Bellemore on waivers.

-The Panthers demoted forwards Mark Cullen, Angelo Esposito, Jonathan Hazen, Bracken Kearns, Scott Timmins, Greg Rallo, Eric Selleck, Anthony Luciani, defensemen Roman Derlyuk, Evan Oberg, Keith Seabrook, Tyson Strachan and Nolan Yonkman to San Antonio of the AHL.

-The Capitals demoted former Penguins goaltender Dany Sabourin and forward Keith Aucoin to Hershey of the AHL. Washington also placed forward Francois Bouchard, Kyle Greentree and defenseman Zach Miskovic on waivers.

-The Lightning signed defenseman Daniel Milan to a three-year, two-way contract.

Central Division

-Shea Weber and Ryan Suter each had two assists for the Predators in a 4-3 defeat of the Jets.

-Here's a good look at the Predators' and Jets'  new uniforms:

-Predators goaltender Pekka Rinne required stitches after he was cut over his right eye when his mask was struck by a puck.

-Blue Jackets defenseman James Wisniewski was suspeneded indifinitely pending a hearing for a hit against Wild forward Cal Clutterbuck Friday. A hearing is expected Monday.

-Blackhawks forward and Gibsonia native Brandan Saad (right) has had an impressive training camp so far.

-The Blackhawks placed goaltender Cristobal Huet and forward Brandon Segal on waivers.

-Chicago also demoted orward Rob Flick, defenseman Brian Fahey and goaltender Alec Richards to Rockford of the AHL.

-The Red Wings assigned forward Tomas Jurco to Saint John of the QMJHL.

-The retirement of defenseman Brian Rafalski means an elevated role for Red Wings defenseman Niklas Kronwall.

Northwest Division

-Nikolai Khabibulin made 16 saves for the Oilers in a 2-1 win against the Flames.

-Wild forward Brad Staubitz was suspended indefiitely pending a disciplinary hearing for a hit from on Blue Jackets forward Cody Bass Friday. A hearing is expected Monday.

-Friday night, Avalanche forward Chris Mueller (right) played his first game in over a year. He missed all of 2010-11 due to a concussion.

-The Avalanche placed forwards Evan Brophey, Greg Mauldin David Van Der Gulik and defenseman David Liffiton on waivers.

-The Canucks signed defenseman defenceman Frank Corrado, a fifth-round pick in this summer's draft, to an entry-level contract.

Pacific Division

-Jonas Hiller made 21 saves for the Ducks who beat the Canucks, 4-1.

-Andrew Raycroft made 18 saves for the Stars in a 3-2 defeat of the Blues.

-Stars forward and former Penguin Eric Godard duked it out with St. Louis' Kyle Hagel:

-Harri Sateri made 28 saves for the Sharks in a 1-0 shutout of the Coyotes.

-The Stars placed defensemen Maxime Fortunus, Brad Lukowich, Dan Spang, forwards Travis Morin, Raymond Sawada, Francis Wathier and Godard on waivers.

-The Coyotes placed forwards Matt Beaudoin, Alexandre Bolduc and defenseman Garrett Stafford on waivers.

Norris Division

-Former Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins forward Darcy Verot has joined CSKA Moskva of the KHL.

-Hockey Night in Canada played a touching tribute to those who lost their lives this past summer:
