Penguins

-The loss of Nick Johnson is a significant hit for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

Atlantic Division

-Former Penguins captain Jaromir Jagr's power-play goal led the Flyers past the Devils, 2-1. Fire Craig Patrick.

-Boston's Chris Kelly and Ottawa's Zack Smith were ready for this faceoff:

-Maple Leafs forward Tim Connolly is dealing with an "upper-body" injury.

-The Canadiens demoted defenseman Alex Henry to Hamilton of the AHL.

-The Senators demote goaltender Mike McKenna to Binghamton of the AHL.

Southeast Division

-Dwayne Roloson made 24 saves for the Lightning in a 4-0 shutout of the Canadiens.

-The Capitals signed forward Jason Chimera to a two-year contact extension worth $3.5 million. He will have a salary cap hit of $1.75 million. He has one year left on a contract with a cap hit of $1.875 million.

-Washington demoted defensemen Sean Collins, Patrick McNeill and former Penguins forward Chris Bourque to Hershey of the AHL.

-"More than any other player on our team, he submits himself to those areas where it hurts. It's impossible to not get injured when you do the things he does." - Lightning coach Guy Boucher on former Penguins forward Ryan Malone.

-The Hurricanes demoted forwards Drayson Bowman, Zach Boychuk, Jerome Samson, Chris Terry, Jon Matsumoto, Brett Sutter, Chris Durno, defensemen Justin Krueger, Bobby Sanguinetti, Mathieu Roy, goaltenders Justin Peters and Mike Murphy to Charlotte of the AHL.

Central Division

-Fedor Tyutin and Cam Atkinson each had a goal and an assist for the Blue Jackets in a 4-2 defeat of the Wild.

-Columbus' Jeff Carter is popular:

-Columbus' Fedor Tyutin > Minnesota's Nick Johnson:

-Two assists from Andy McDonald helped the Blues beat the Avalanche, 3-1.

-The Blackhawks demoted forward Rob Klinkhammer to Rockford of the AHL.

-Blackhawks forward Victor Stalberg will be sidelined three weeks due to a leg injury.

-The Predators demoted goaltender Jeremy Smith to Milwaukee of the AHL.

Northwest Division

-Two goals and an assist for the Flames in a 4-2 defeat of the Coyotes.

-Phoenix's Martin Hanzal apparently tried to steal the nose of Calgary's Anton Babchuk:

-Former Penguins forward Nick Johnson gets a chance in Minnesota with Mike Yeo.

-Flames captain Jarome Iginla resumed skating for the first time since injuring his back the first day of training camp.

-Oilers defenseman and former Penguin Ryan Whitney is still slowly recovering from ankle surgery.

-The Oilers demoted Colten Teubert and forward Antti Tyrvainen to Oklahoma City of the AHL.

Pacific Division

-Mike Ribeiro had a goal and five assists for the Stars in a 7-1 rout of the Panthers.

-Thomas Greiss made 25 saves for the Sharks in a 3-0 shutout of the Canucks.

-There was an ugly scene in this game as Vancouver's Aaron Volpatti dropped San Jose's Brad Winchester with one punch:

-Volpatti also knocked San Jose's Jason Demers out of the game with this high hit:

-All kind of hell broke loose here in the Sharks' crease:

-The Kings agreed to an eight-year contract with defenseman Drew Doughty worth a total of $56 million. He will have a salary cap hit of $7 million. In 76 games last season, Doughty scored 40 points (11 goals, 29 assists).

-EN Says: This hold out seems rather silly now that this is all done. Doughty is one of the best defensemen in the league. He will be a Norris Trophy finalists multiple times before this contract expires. This is a nice value for a player of his skill level.

-Los Angeles demoted forwards Justin Azevedo and Jordan Nolan to Manchester of the AHL.

-The Ducks demoted forward Jean-Francois Jacques to Syracuse of the AHL and placed defenseman Bryan Rodney on waivers.

Seth, any word on what the deal is with Lundqvist's "A"? Did they lift the rule on Goalie's being allowed to alter their uniforms? I recall Luongo was never allowed to have the C so he had it painted onto the chin of his mask. Did they change that or is this a preseason thing?

I'm wondering if that was something the just did for the games in Sweden since it's sort of a homecoming for Lundqvist.
