-A hat trick by Chris Barton led the Wheeling Nailers to a 6-4 defeat of the Trenton Titans. Matt Lombardi added two goals for the Nailers while teammates Patrick Johnson and Nick Plastino each recorded three assists. Patrick Killeen made 18 saves in the victory.
-Happy 59th birthday to former Penguins forward Ron Lalonde. A fourth-round pick in 1972, Lalonde spent parts of three seasons with the Penguins. As a rookie in 1972-73, Lalone appeared in nine games and failed to record a point. He followed that up in 1973-74 by playing in 73 games and scoring 27 points. After 24 games and three points in 1974-75, Lalonde was traded to the Capitals in exchange for Lew Morrison. In 106 games with the Penguins, Morrison scored 30 points.
-Happy 44th birthday to former Penguins forward Brad Aitken. A third-round pick in 1986, Aitken spent parts of two seasons in Pittsburgh. As a rookie in 1987-88, Aitken appeared in five games and scored two points. After spending all of 1988-89 and 1989-90 with the Muskegon Lumberjacks, the Penguins' IHL affiliate, Aitken appeared in six games and recorded one assist for the Penguins in 1990-91. At the 1991 trade deadline, he was traded to the Oilers in exchange for Kim Issel. In 11 games for the Penguins, Aitken scored three points.
-Claude Giroux had a goal and three assists for the Flyers in a 5-1 rout of the Hurricanes. Former Penguins captain Jaromir Jagr scored two goals for Philadelphia while teammate Scott Hartnell added a goal and two assists. Ilya Bryzgalov made 24 saves in the victory.

-Milan Michalek's shootout goal gave the Senators a 5-4 win against the Rangers. Jason Spezza had two regulation goals while Michalek added a regulation goal and an assist in regulation. Craig Anderson made 24 saves in the victory. Brad Richards had two regulation goals and an assist for New York.

-Lightning general manager Steve Yzerman, who suffered an eye injury late in his career, suggested that the NHL should "grandfather" visors similar to how the league did with helmets in 1979.
-The Hurricanes demoted forward Brett Sutter to Charlotte of the AHL.

-Predators forward Mike Fisher left the game due to an "upper-body" injury following a hit by Ducks defenseman Francois Beauchemin:

-Blackhawks forward Daniel Carcillo was suspended two games for shoving Hurricanes defenseman Joni Pitkanen from behind into the end boards:
-"I'm giving some serious thought to changing my last name." - Carcillo accusing the NHL of penalizing him based on repuatation.
-Blues defenseman Kent Huskins will be sidelined indefinitely due to a fractured left ankle.
-The Red Wings placed forward Fabian Brunnstrom on waivers.

-Two goals and an assist by Alexander Edler led the Canucks to a 7-4 rout of the Capitals. Chris Higgins and Maxim Lapierre each scored two goals for Vancouver while captain Henrik Sedin contributed a goal and an assist. Roberto Luongo made 28 saves in the victory. Captain Alex Ovechkin scored two goals for Washington.

-Oilers defenseman Andy Sutton has been suspended indefinitely pending an in-person hearing with NHL discipline czar Brendan Shanahan over a hit to the had of Avalanche forward Gabriel Landeskog Friday.
-An overtime goal and an assist by Brent Burns gave the Sharks a 3-2 win against the Islanders. Joe Pavelski added a goal and an assist for San Jose while teammate Dan Boyle recorded two assists. Thomas Greiss made 35 saves in the victory.
-Burns' goal came after the Islanders were penalized for a bogus delay of game penalty:
