The Penguins, hockey and more, by the PG's Seth Rorabaugh. |
With the team on the West Coast for a a few days and Kris Letang skipping a few recent practices due to an undisclosed ailment, the Penguins recalled defenseman Alexandre Picard from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the AHL.
In nine AHL games this season, Picard has three assists and is a plus-seven.
A free agent signing this summer, Picard appeared in 43 games with the Canadiens last season and scored eight points (three goals, five assists).
EN Says: We wouldn't read too much into this with regards to Letang's availability. Were the team to lose a defenseman over the course of the next few days, it would be difficult to get one from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton to California on short notice. They most likely recalled Picard as insurance.
