The Penguins' blue line keeps losing bodies.
Defenseman Ben Lovejoy (right) suffered a broken left wrist during last night's 4-3 shootout loss to the Sharks in HP Pavlion in San Jose. Head coach Dan Bylsma offered no time table for his return.
Lovejoy was injured when he hit Sharks center Logan Couture into the end boards of the Penguins' zone at the 16:13 of the second period.
In 12 games this season, Lovejoy has one assist.
-EN Says: Things were rough before the game considering Zbynek Michalek (finger) and Brian Strait (elbow) were already sidelined and the fact that Kris Letang was game-time decision due to an undisclosed ailment. Then the team saw Matt Niskanen leave with a temporary issue following a knee-on-knee in the first period and now Lovejoy surely going to be sidelined for a few weeks.
Alexander Picard will get first crack at the lineup to fill in for Lovejoy. Beyond that, the team has to figure out if it wants to recall Carl Sneep, Robert Bortuzzo or former first-rounder Simon Despres.
