-Shootout goals by Colin McDonald, Niko Dimitrakos and Bryan Lerg gave the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins a 2-1 win against Binghamton Senators. Brad Thiessen made 28 saves in the victory.
-The Penguins broke a seven-game road losing streak to the Senators.
-Zack Torquato had a goal and an assist for the Wheeling Nailers in a 5-1 defeat of the Trenton Devils. Tim Crowder and Zach Hansen each recorded two assists for the Nailers while Peter Delmas made 23 saves in the victory.
-Penguins prospect and Niagara IceDogs could be in some hot water with the OHL after he leveled Kitchener Rangers defenseman Ryan Murphy with this ugly hit Friday night:

-Happy 66th birthday to former Penguins defenseman Darryl Edestrand (right). Acquired in the 1970 offseason along with Larry McKillop in a deal which sent Barry Ashbee to the Flyers, Edestrand spent parts of three seasons with the Penguins. After spending all of 1970-71 with the Penguins' AHL affiliate in Hershey, Edestrand appeared in 77 games with the Penguins during 1971-72 and scored 33 points. In that spring's postseason, he saw action in four games and recorded two assists. He followed that up in 1972-73 by setting career highs in games (78), goals (15) and points (39). After three games and no points in 1973-74, Edestrand was traded to the Bruins in exchange for Nick Beverly. In 158 regular season games with the Penguins, Edestrand scored 72 points.
-Frans Nielsen and P.A. Parenteau each had a goal and two assists for the Islanders in a 5-3 defeat of the Islanders. Rick DiPietro made 25 saves in the victory which snapped a six-game losing streak. Nicklas Backstrom recorded two assists for Washington.

Patric Hornqvist added a goal and an assist for the Predators while teammates Francis Bouillon and Shea Weber each recorded two assists. Pekka Rinne made 35 saves in the victory. Logan Couture had a goal and two assists for San Jose.

-Eric Levine made 16 saves for the Robert Morris men's team in a 2-0 loss to American International.
-Max Strang made 41 saves for the Mercyhurst men's team in a 2-0 shutuout of Connecticut.
-NBC Sports Network (Versus' future name) will carry 16 college hockey games next calendar year.
