The Penguins have dealt center Mark Letestu (right) to the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for a fourth-round pick in the 2012 draft. In 11 games this season, Letestu, 26, had one assist and was a minus six.
In the course of three seasons, Letestu appeared in 85 games for the Penguins and scored 29 points (15 goals, 14 assists). He broke through as a full-time NHLer last season by appeared in 64 game and scoring 27 points (14 goals, 13 assists).
He has two years left (including 2011-12) on a contract with a cap hit of $625,000.
And undrafted free agent signing in 2007, Letestu (5-foot-11, 195 pounds) spent parts of six seasons with the organization.
Earlier in the day, the team demoted forwards Dustin Jeffrey and Steve MacIntyre to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the AHL for conditioning assignments.
EN Says: With the Penguins getting healthier up front and the emergance of rookie Joe Vitale and the surprising play of veteran Richard Park, the Penguins just didn't have room for Letestu.
He will get better opportunities in Columbus.
