-Happy 41st birthday to former Penguins forward Bill Guerin (right). Acquired at the 2009 trade deadline in a deal which sent a draft pick to the Islanders, Guerin spent parts of two seasons with the Penguins. Guerin finished 2008-09 by appearing in 17 games and scoring 12 points. In the 2009 postseason, he played in all 24 games, finished third on the team with 15 points and helped the franchise claim its third Stanley Cup title. He returned in 2009-10 and saw action in 78 games while scoring 45 points. He played in 11 games in that spring's playoffs and scored nine points. He retired following the season and is currently a player development coach with the Penguins. In 95 regular season games with the Penguins, Guerin scored 57 points. In 35 postseason games, he scored 27 points, 21st-most in franchise history.
-A goal and an assist by Dainius Zubrus led the Devils to a 3-2 win against the Hurricanes. Teammate Patrik Elias recorded two assists for New Jersey while Martin Brodeur made 25 saves in the victory.

-Two goals by Thomas Vanek, including one in overtime, led the Sabres to a wild 6-5 win against the Jets. Derek Roy added two goals and an assist for Buffalo while captain Jason Pominville contributed a goal and two assists. Ryan Miller made 20 saves in the victory. -After a fight with Calgary captain Jarome Iginla, Wild forward and former Penguin Nick Johnson was kicked out of the game for head butting Iginla:
-The Wild recalled forward Warren Peters from Houston of the AHL.
-Canucks forward Mason Raymond returned to practice for the first time since suffering a broken vertebra in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup final.
-Two goals by Michael Ryder led the Stars to a 5-2 defeat of the Capitals. Jamie Benn added a goal and two assists for Dallas while teammate Adam Burish netted a goal and an assist. Kari Lehtonen made 30 saves in the victory.
