Penguins

-The NHL released the ballot for the All-Star Lame Game. Sidney Crosby, Marc-Andre Fleury, Kris Letang (both right), James Neal, Evgeni Malkin and Jordan Staal are included on it.

-Sidney Crosby will not play in the next two games.

-Welcome back Eric Tangradi. (PG+)

-Zbynek Michalek (broken finger) resumed skating. (PG+)

-Dustin Jeffrey and Steve MacIntyre are scheduled to play in the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins' games this weekend. The AHL Penguins are on the road tonight against the rival Hershey Bears and host the Norfolk Admirals tomorrow.

-Phil Kessel's shootout goal gave the Maple Leafs a 3-2 win against the Blues. Tyler Bozak recorded two assists for Toronto while Ben Scriven made 38 saves in the victory.

-Two goals by Brad Marchand led the Bruins to a 6-3 defeat of the Oilers. Joe Corvo recorded three assists for Boston while teammate Tyler Seguin netted a goal and an assist. Tuukka Rask made 27 saves in the victory. Ryan Smyth scored two goals for Edmonton.

Southeast Division

-A hat trick and an assist by Kris Versteeg led the Panthers to a 5-2 defeat of the Jets. Brian Campbell recorded three assists for Florida while teammates Tomas Fleischmann and Dmitry Kulikov each recorded two assists. Jose Theodore made 25 saves in the victory.

-Two goals and an assist by captain Jonathan Toews led the Blackhawks to a 6-3 defeat of the Blue Jackets. Steve Montador added a goal and an assist for Chicago while teammate Nick Leddy and Brent Seabook each recorded two assists. Corey Crawford made 27 saves in the victory. Grant Clitsome scored two goals for Columbus. Former Penguin Mark Letestu scored a goal in his Blue Jackets debut. Fire Ray Shero.

-The Blue Jackets acquired defenseman Nikita Nikitin from the Blues in exchage for defenseman Kris Russell. In 12 games this season, Russell has three points (two goals, one assist). In seven games this season. Including this season, he has two years left on a contract with a $1.3 million salary cap hit. Nikitin has no points. He is scheduled to become a restricted free agent after this season and has a salary cap hit of $600,000.

-Columbus activated forward Jared Boll (thumb) off injured reserve.

Northwest Division

-An overtime goal and an assist by Kyle Quincey gave the Avalanche a 4-3 comeback win against the Islanders. Milan Hejduk and Peter Stastny each had a goal and an assist for Colorado while Jean-Sebastien Giguere made 30 saves in the victory. Captain Mark Streit recorded two assists for New York.

Pacific Division

-Patrick Marleau scored two goals for the Sharks in a 3-1 defeat of the Wild. Antti Niemi made 21 saves in the victory. The Wild had a five-game winning streak snapped.

Best way to undo the 1-3-1 by rule would be to remove offsides if the defending team has 4 or more people above their blue line.
