-Ben Street had a goal and an assist for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 4-3 shootout loss to the Manchester Monarchs. Brad Thiessen made 25 saves for the Penguins.
-The Penguins are 1-3 in the shootout so far this season.
-Tom Venesky of the Wilkes-Barre Times Leader has a good read on Mike Bales, the Penguins' goaltender development coach.
-Happy 54th birthday to former Penguins forward Tom Roulston (right). Acquired midway through the 1983-84 season in a deal which sent Kevin McClelland and a draft pick to the Oilers, Roulston spent parts of two seasons with the Penguins. He finished 1983-84 by appearing in 53 games for the Penguins and scoring 28 points. After spending all of 1985-86 with the Penguins' AHL affiliate in Baltimore, Roulston saw action in five games in 1985-86 and failed to record a point. He was released in the 1986 offseason. In 58 games with the Penguiins, he scored 28 points.
-Ryan Carter and David Clarkson each had a goal and two assists for the Devils in a 4-2 win against the Lightning. Martin Brodeur made 21 saves in the victory. Ryan Shannon had a goal and an assist for Tampa Bay.

-The Islanders activated forward Rhett Rakhshani (knee) from injured reserve and demoted him to Bridgeport.
-Carey Price made all of 17 saves for the Canadiens in a 4-0 shutout of the Rangers. Captain Brian Gionta scored two goals for Montreal while teammates Erik Cole and Tomas Plekanec each collected a goal and an assist. New York had a seven-game winning streak snapped.

-Maple Leafs defenseman Mike Komisarek will be sidelined eight weeks due to a broken arm injury.
-The Maple Leafs recalled forward Joe Colborne from Toronto of the AHL.
-Sabres defenseman Tyler Myers is dealing with a suspected wrist or hand injury.
-A goal and two assists from Dustin Byfuglien led the Jets to a 6-4 win against the Flyers. Bryan Little scored two goals for Winnipeg while teammate Andrew Ladd added a goal and an assist. Ondrej Pavelec made 27 saves in the victory. Scott Hartnell had two goals and an assist for Philadelphia.

-The Hurricanes recalled forward Zac Dalpe from Charlotte of the AHL.
-Pavel Datsyuk scored two goals for the Red Wings in a 4-1 win against the Kings. Teammates Johan Franzen and Tomas Holmstrom each recorded two goals while Jimmy Howard made 23 saves in the victory.
-Goal of the Night: Los Angeles' Mike Richards outhustling everyone for a nice shorthanded goal:
-An overtime goal and an assist by James Wisniewski gave the Blue Jackets a 4-3 win against the rival Predators. Captain Rick Nash recorded two assists for Columbus while Curtis Sanford made 27 saves in the victory. The Blue Jackets snapped a 17-game losing streak in Nashville. Ryan Suter and captain Shea Weber each had two assists for Nashville.

-Max Strang made 32 saves for the Mercyhurst men's team in a 2-1 defeat of Bentley.
-A hat trick and three assists by Bailey Bram led the Mercyhurst women's team to a 6-2 rout of Yale.
