Penguins-Canadiens forward Max Pacioretty will forego $26,351.34 of salary as a result of his three-game suspension for a hit to the head of Penguins defenseman Kris Letang during Saturday's game in Montreal.
-Letang is questionable for tonight's game due to a potential head injury.
-Sidney Crosby called Senators general manager Bryan Murray's (right) comments on Sunday "ridiculous." (PG+)

-Happy 68th birthday to former Penguins coach Bob Berry. Hired June 4, 1984, Berry, Mario Lemieux's first NHL coach, spent three seasons with the Penguins. Berry's first season was 1984-85 and he led the team to a 24-51-5 record and 53 points, a 15-point improvement over the previous season. In 1985-86, the Penguins improved yet again to 34-38-8 and 76 points. Berry's final season with the Penguins was 1986-87. They took a step back going 30-38-12 for 72 points and missed the postseason for the third consecutive year. He was fired, April 13, 1987. In 240 games with the Penguins, Berry's record was 88-127-25 and he had 201 points.
-Happy 62nd irthday to former Penguins defenseman Yvon Labre. A fourth-round pick in 1969, Labre spent parts of two seasons with the Penguins. As a rookie in 1970-71, Labre saw action in 21 games and scored two points. In 1971-72, Labre played in 16 games and collected three points. During the 1974 offseason, Labre was claimed in the expansion draft by the Capitals. In 37 games with the Penguins, Labre scored five points.
-Flyers captain Chris Pronger will be sidelined four weeks following knee surgery.

-Buffalo demoted forwards Paul Szczechura, Corey Tropp and T.J. Brennan to Rochester of the AHL.
-The Sabres signed former Capitals defensive prospect Joe Finley to a three-year contract. Financial terms were not revealed. Finley was a first-round pick of the Capitals in 2005.
-The Capitals fired head coach Bruce Boudreau and replaced him with former captain Dale Hunter (right), the former head coach of the OHL's London Knights.
-Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin claimed he was shocked by the firing.
-The Hurricanes fired head coach Paul Maurice and replaced him with Kirk Muller, the former head coach of the Milwaukee Admirals, the Predators' AHL affiliate.
-The Lighting signed forward Dana Tyrell to a two-year one-way contract extension. Financial terms were not reported. Tyrell has one year left on a one-year two-way contract.
-The Panthers demoted goaltender Jacob Markstrom and forward Michal Repik to San Antonio of the AHL.
-Anders Lindback made all of 17 saves in a 2-1 win against the Oilers. Nashville snapped a four-game losing streak.
-Hit of the Night: Edmonton's Tom Gilbert on Nashville's Patric Hornqvist:
-Cal Clutterbuck and captain Mikko Koivu each had a goal and an assist for the Wild in a 3-1 win against the Lightning. Niklas Backstrom made 32 saves in the victory.

-The Wild activated defenseman Greg Zanon (groin) of injured reserve, recalled forwards David McIntyre and Casey Wellman from Houston of the AHL and demoted forward Warren Peters and defenseman Nate Prosser to Houston.
-Oilers forward Taylor Hall will be sidelined two to four weeks due to a shoulder injury.
-Goaltender Corey Schneider has taken the Canucks' No. 1 job away from Roberto Luongo.
-Jonathan Quick made 33 saves for the Kings in a 2-0 shutout of the rival Sharks. It was Quick's 17th career shutout.

As for Ovechkin, I know that expressing regret for the coach's firing is the right thing to do, but I couldn't help laughing when I read about his "shock".
