Penguins' captain Sidney Crosby will be sidelined for the next two games due to an apparent head ailment.
In a release on the team's Web site, general manager Ray Shero said:
"Sidney took a hard hit during our game against Boston Monday night and wasn't feeling 100 percent. He saw Dr. Micky Collins of UPMC today and took an ImPACT test, which showed no problems. However, we all think it's best that he sits out the next two games as a precaution."
Crosby missed 61 regular season games over the course of last season and this season due to a head injury suffered initally in the Winter Classic at Heinz Field, Jan. 1.
Since returning to the lineup, Nov. 21, Crosby has appeared in eight games and collected eight points.
The Penguins are scheduled to face the rival Flyers tomorrow, 7 p.m. in Philadelphia then travel to Long Island to face the Islanders, Saturday, 7 p.m. Crosby did not travel with the team.
It is unclear when Crosby which hit Shero was referencing during Monday's game against the Bruins. Crosby had 21:03 of ice time and was on the ice for the game's final 1:08. He skipped practice Tuesday for a "maitenance day" but took part in a full practice today.
