-The NHLPA has rejected the NHL's realignment plan which was scheduled to take affect starting next season.
-EN Says: Welcome to the NHL Donald Fehr. With the CBA expiring this summer, NHLPA boss Donald Fehr is going to use anything, even something fairly simple as this realignment plan, as a bargaining chip.

-Shootout goals by Geoff Walker, Bryan Lerg and Eric Tangradi gave the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins a 4-3 win against the Rochester Americans. Jason Williams had a regulation goal and two assists for the Penguins while teammate Brad Thiessen made 27 saves.
-Chris Barton had two goals and an assist for the Wheeling Nailers who beat the Cincinnati Cyclones, 5-2. Paul Crowder recorded three assists for Wheeling while teammate Peter Delmas made 29 saves.
-Happy 51st birthday to former Penguins defenseman Rod Buskas (right). A sixth-round pick in 1981, Buskas spent parts of nine seasons with the Penguins. As a rookie in 1982-83, Buskas saw action in 41 games and scored four points. He followed that up in 1983-84 by playin gin 47 games and collecting six points. In 1984-85, Buskas appeared in 69 games and scored nine points and recorded a career-high 191 penalty minutes. The 1985-86 seasons saw Buskas play in 72 games and score nine points. In 1986-87, Buskas appeared in 68 games and recorded a career-high 18 points. During 1987-88, he set a career-high with 76 games while scoring 12 points and leading the team with 209 penalty minutes. He was limited to 52 games and six points in 1988-89 but was able to play in the postseason for the first time in his career. Early in the 1989-90 season, he was traded to the Canucks in exchange for for a draft pick. Midway through that season, he returned to the Penguins in a trade which also brought Barry Pederson and Tony Tanti to Pittsburgh in exchange for Dave Capuano, Andrew McBain and Dan Quinn. All together in 1989-90, Buskas appeared in six games for the Penguins that season and failed to record a point. Prior to the start of the 1990-91 campaign, Buskas was claimed off waivers by the Kings. Buskas appeared in 431 career regular season games for the Penguins, 18th-most in franchise history, scored 64 points and recorded 959 penalty minutes, third-most in franchise history.
-Happy 62nd birthday to former Penguins defenseman Larry Bignell. A third-round pick in 1970, Bignell's Penguins career amounted to 20 games and three assists in 1973-74. After spending all of 1974-75 in the AHL, Bignell was released from the organization.
-Two goals by Ilya Kovalchuk led the Devils to a 5-2 win against the Panthers. Patrik Elias added a goal and two assists for New Jersey while teammates Adam Henrique and Zach Parise each netted a goal and an assist. Former Penguin Johan Hedberg made 22 saves in the victory. Fire Craig Patrick.

-Semyon Varlamov made 27 saves for the Avalanche in a 4-0 shutout of the Avalanche. T.J. Galiardi had a goal and an assist for Colorado while teammate Erik Johnson recorded two assists.
-The Flames recalled forward Lance Bouma from Abbotsford of the AHL and demoted forward forward Raitis Ivanans to Abbotsford.
