Today at practice in Greenburgh, N.Y., Rangers forward Brad Richards accused Penguins forward Matt Cooke of slew-footing him during Thursday's game at Madison Square Garden.

The incident occurred in the second period:

Richards said, "He just came up beside me, from behind, and slew-footed me,” Richards said. “I don’t know what the definition of slew-foot is, but that’s a slew-foot. I’ve played enough games to know what a slew-foot is.”

The NHL reviewed the play, which was not penalized during the game, and ruled supplemental discipline was not required.

Richards skipped practice today but is expected to play in Saturday's game against the Bruins despite suffering a stiff neck on the play.

EN Says: Despite his commendable efforts to clean up his game this season, Cooke still has a well deserved reputation for a dirty player. Five months of clean play isn't going to overshadow 12 years of questionable play.

Richards is within reason to suspect Cooke of devious intentions here, but that doesn't mean he's right.

It was a trip. Nothing more. It should have been a two-minute minor. The officials missed the call. If you want to see a true slew foot, let Montreal's PK Subban illustrate one for you:

Can't we apply the precedent set during the case of Neal v. Subban and have Richards fined for something?

Cooke was already in a stance, and Richards skates into him, and tries to sit on his leg.. At least that's what it looks like to me.

A hell of a lot of diving done by the Rangers last night.. Who knew they were so infantile?
