Penguins

Atlantic Division

-Henrik Lundqvist made 22 saves for the Rangers in a 3-0 shutout of the Jets. Captain Ryan Callahan added a goal and an assist for New York.

-Two former Penguins - Mike Rupp of New York and Chris Thorburn of Winnipeg - got into two fights. Round One:

-Claude Giroux's shootout goal gave the Flyers a 3-2 win against the Panthers. Sergei Bobrovsky made 23 saves for Philadelphia. Stephen Weiss recorded two assists for Florida.

-The Flyer snapped a six-game shootout losing streak.

-With Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews dealing with an arm injury, Flyers forward Scott Hartnell was added to the All-Star Lame Game roster.

-Islanders defenseman Al Montoya returned to the lineup for the first time since suffering a concussion Dec. 20.

-The Rangers recalled former Penguins forward Erik Christensen from Connecticut of the AHL.

-The Rangers also recalled former Penguins goaltending prospect Chad Johnson from Connecticut.

Northeast Division

-Two goals, including one in overtime, and an assist by Clarke MacArthur gave the Maple Leafs a 4-3 win against the Islanders. Mikhail Grabovski added a goal and three assists for Toronto while teammate Jake Gardiner added a goal and an assist. Jonas Gustavsson made 29 saves in the victory.

-The Canadiens demoted forward Andreas Engqvist to Hamilton of the AHL.

Southeast Division

-A hat trick by Mathieu Perreault led the Capitals to a 5-3 win against the Bruins. Roman Hamrlik recorded two assists for Washington while Tomas Vokoun made 29 saves. Patrice Bergeron and Dennis Seidenberg each recorded two assists for Boston.

-Despite being suspended, Capitals captain Alex Oveckhin managed to give Perreault a shaving cream "pie" to the face:

-Captain Vincent Lecavalier and Martin St. Louis each had a goal and an assist for the Lightning which defeated the Blue Jackets 4-2. Former Penguin Mathieu Garon made 22 saves for Tampa Bay which has won four consecutive game. Fire Ray Shero. Plum native R.J. Umberger recorded two assists for Columbus.

-Pass of the Night: Lecavalier setting up St. Louis:

-Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin opted to not attend the All-Star game declairing: “My heart is not there. I got suspended, so why I have to go there?. I love the game, it’s a great event, I love to be there but I’m suspended. I don’t want to be a target. I feel I’m not deserving to be there right now. I got suspended, I have to be suspended, so that’s why I give up my roster [spot].”

-Hurricanes defenseman Joni Pitkanen could be sidelined until March due to head and knee injuries.

-The Hurricanes demoted forward Zac Dalpe to Charlotte of the AHL.

-Knee surgery will sideline defenseman Dmitry Kulkov for six to eight weeks.

-The Jets placed forward Evander Kane (concussion) on injured reserve and recalled forward Aaron Gagnon from St. John's of the AHL.

Central Division

-Pekka Rinne made 24 saves for the Predators in a 3-1 victory against the Blackhawks. Nashville has won nine out of its past 10 games.

-Chicago's Steve Montador and Nashville's Brandon Yipp got up close and personal:

-The Blackhawks placed captain Jonathan Toews (arm) on injured reserve and recalled forward Brandon Pirri from Rockford of the AHL.

-The Blue Jackets demoted forward Tomas Kubalik to Springfield of the AHL.

-The Blues demoted defenseman Ian Cole to Peoria of the AHL.

Northwest Division

-Shootout goals by Alexander Edler and Cody Hodgson gave the Canucks a 3-2 win against the Oilers. Roberto Luongo made 30 saves for Vancouver. Taylor Hall had a regulation goal and an assist for Edmonton.

-Saves of the Night: Edmonton's Devan Dubnyk in overtime:

-Nicklas Backstrom made 26 saves for the Wild in a 3-2 win against the Avalanche. Kyle Brodziak recorded two assists for Minnesota which snapped an 11-game road losing streak.

-Goal of the Night: Check out this smooth move by Minnesota's Carson McMillan to score on Colorado's Jean-Sebastien Giguere:

-The Wild demoted forwards Chad Rau, Jed Ortmeyer and Matt Kassian to Houston of the AHL.

-The Flames demoted forward Roman Horak to Abbotsford of the AHL.

Pacific Division

-Mike Smith made 32 saves for the Coyotes who defeated the Senators, 3-2. Phoenix snapped a three-game losing streak.

-Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson wasn't happy with referee Dan O'Halloran after he waved off a goal:

-Kari Lehtonen made 27 saves for the Stars in a 1-0 shutout of the Ducks. A day after signing a contract extension, former Penguins defenseman Alex Goligoski scored the game's only goal. Fire Ray Shero. Dallas snapped a five-game losing streak.

-Antti Niemi made 25 saves for the Sharks in a 1-0 shutout of the Flames. San Jose snapped a three-game losing streak.
