I kept hoping some rogue aliens would fly off in it, a la Men In Black, in an intergalactic preservation plot that would allow the land to be re-used but the arena to remain intact. Ah, well.

Watching this was so sad. All I could think of is how many concerts I saw there. These days it doesn't matter since no one can afford to go to a concert anyway.

I worked my way through college (Carnegie-Mellon) plus a year (from 1967 thru 1972) at the Civic Arena. I started as an usher but took tickets and worked as a utility maintenance man on the night crew, too. I knew every nook and cranny of that barn up through the time I left. I know we have to move on. But watching this video felt like I was seeing a family member being executed. It breaks my heart.
