-The Philadelphia Inquirer's recap. "I will continue to work on this, but I will try to find peace in my soul to play in this city." - Flyers goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov.

-NHL.com's recap. "They were ahead of us in the standings, and you want to catch teams, especially down the stretch like that. It was a big win for us." - Pascal Dupuis.
-Highlights:
-Matt Cooke's five on three shorthanded goal deserves its own clip:
-Deryk Engelland > Philadelphia's Claude Giroux:
-Brooks Orpik > Philadelphia's Andrej Meszaros:
-A good look at the hit:

-Orpik put a stick in a bad spot here on Philadelphia's Nicklas Grossman:

-Happy times for Dustin Jeffrey, Cooke and Arron Asham:

-Getting up close and personal with Mezaros and Chris Kunitz:

-We're not goaltending expert or anything but Philadelphia's Sergei Bobrovsky probably didn't play the right angle here:

-Flyers forward and former Penguins captain Jaromir Jagr being popular:

-Happy times for Eric Wellwood (left) and Braydon Coburn:

-Steely glaring times for Bobrovsky :

-The Flyers' ice girls might have been the only group who had a rougher day in Philadelphia than the Flyers goaltenders:

-Dan Bylsma speaks:
-"That's about it. I fell. ... There's not much else to say." - Deryk Engelland on his turnover in the second period which led to a goal by Philadelphia's Eric Wellwood.
-Jordan Staal's wallet is $2,500 lighter.
-Penguins assistant general manager Jason Botterill is all too familiar with concussions. His playing career was ended by one.
-Brad Thiessen made 20 saves for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 3-0 loss to the Albany Devils.
-Peter Delmas made 32 saves for the Wheeling Nailers in a 4-0 loss to the Reading Royals.
-Happy 29th birthday to former Penguins defenseman Ryan Whitney (right). A first-round pick in 200, Whitney spent parts of four seasons with the Penguins. As a rookie in 2005-06, Whitney played in 68 games and scored 32 points. He followed that up in 2006-07 by setting career-highs in games (81), goals (14), assists (45) and points (59). In that spring's postseason, he appeared in five games and recorded two points. During 2007-08, Whitney played in 76 games and scored 40 points. He saw action in 20 postseason games that spring and scored eight points while helping the team advance to the Stanley Cup Final. After 28 games and 13 points in 2008-09, Whitney was traded to the Ducks in exchange for Chris Kunitz and Eric Tangradi. In 253 regular season games with the Penguins, he scored 150 points, 52nd-most in franchise history. In 25 career postseason games, he scored eight points. He is currently a member of the Oilers.
-Happy 31st birthday to former Penguins forward Jeff Taffe. A free agent signing during the 2007 offseason, Taffe spent parts of two seasons with the Penguins. In 2007-08, he appeared in 45 games and scored 12 points. He followed that up in 2008-09 by appearing in eight games and recording two assists. In the 2009 offseason, he joined the Panthers as a free agent. In 53 games with the Penguins, Taffe scored 14 points. He is currently a member of the Wild.
-Two goals and an assist by John Tavares led the Islanders to a 4-3 win against the Hurricanes. PA Parenteau and captain Mark Streit each recorded two assists for New York while teammate Kevin Poulin made 33 saves.
-Check out this goal by Tavares:
-Poulin was all over this puck:

-Carolina captain Eric Staal and New York's Andrew MacDonald kicked up a ton of ice here:

-The Flyers acquired defenseman Pavel Kubina from the Lightning in exchange for forward Jon Kalinski and a second round pick in either 2012 or 2013 and a fourth-rounder in 2014. Kubina, 34, is in the final year of a contract with a salary cap hit of $3.85 million. In 52 games this season, Kubina has 11 points (three goals, eight assists). Kalinski, 24, is in the final year of a two-way contract. In 40 AHL games this season, he has 12 points (nine goals, three assists).
-EN Says: This is right in line with trades each of these teams made earlier this week. The Flyers need defensemen with Chris Pronger sidelined. After acquiring defensive shot blocker Nicklas Grossman last week, they add a experienced blue liner with some offensive abilities. Kubina (right) doesn't necessarily have the pop he used to have, but he still has a strong point shot. Despite being a large body (6-foot-4, 258 pounds), Kubina is not exceptionally physical. A member of Tampa Bay's 2004 Stanley Cup championship squad, he does bring some playoff experience to a team lean in that area.
For the Lightning, it continues to unload expiring contracts for draft picks. Kalinski is a marginal NHL prospect who is a third- or fourth-line type of forward. The greatest value out of this trade for them is the draft picks.
-"Joe's mentality is to shoot the puck. If you don't shoot the puck, it won't go in. He's telling me that pretty much every day because I tend to pass a lot." - Flyers forward Claude Giroux on assistant coach and former Penguins forward Joe Mullen who runs the team's power play.
-The Devils placed defenseman Adam Larsson (right) on injured reserve due to a back ailment and recalled defenseman Peter Harrold from Albany of the AHL.
-The Canadiens recalled forward Aaron Palushaj from Hamilton of the AHL.
-Former Penguin Mathieu Garon made 23 saves for the Lightning in a 2-1 win against the Capitals. Washington has lost four out of its past five games.
-Tampa Bay's Steven Stamkos undressed Washington goaltender Tomas Vokoun here:
-Stamkos recorded his third career 40-goal season. He joined Mario Lemieux, Wayne Gretzky, Dale Hawerchuk and Alex Ovechkin as the only players in NHL history to reach that mark three times before turning 23.
-Capitals defenseman Mike Green returned to the lineup after being sidelined since Jan.17 due to an abdominal injury.
-Assuming he plays today, forward Stephen Weiss will tie forward Radek Dvorak's record for most games played in Panthers franchise history with 613.
-The Panthers recalled defenseman Nolan Yonkman from San Antonio of the AHL and demoted defenseman Colby Robak to San Antonio.
-Patrick Sharp and captain Jonathan Toews each had a goal and two assists for the Blackhawks who routed the Blue Jackets, 6-1. Patrick Kane added a goal and an assist for Chicago while teammate Corey Crawford made 33 saves.
-Check out this goal by Toews:

-Gutsy Fight of the Night: Columbus' Derek Dorsett showed some guts going after big John Scott of Chicago:
-Brian Elliott made all of 13 saves for the Blues in a 4-0 shutout of the Wild. Alex Pietrangelo and Kevin Shattenkirk each recorded two assists for St. Louis.
-EN Says: With Ken Hitchcock back in the NHL, the Blues are now a disciplined, but extremely, boring defensive team.
-Wild forward Warren Peter is scheduled to have a disciplinary phone hearing with the NHL over his cross check to the head of St. Louis captain David Backes:
-Minnesota's Josh Harding got plenty of "support" from St. Louis fans:

-Elliott and teammate Jaroslav Halak have combined for 12 shutouts this season, one shy of the franchise record set by hall-of-famers Glenn Hall and Jacques Plante in 1968-69.
-With Halak dealing with an illness, the Blues recalled goaltender Ben Bishop from Peoria of the AHL.
-“I’m excited, it’s a good team (with) all the parts you need to be successful — young and energetic. It’s a team that’s in the thick of things and gives me a chance to win.” - Former Penguins defenseman Hal Gill on joining the Predators.
-The Red Wings demoted forward Tomas Tatar to Grand Rapids of the AHL.
-A goal and three assists by Daniel Sedin led the Canucks to a 6-2 rout of the Maple Leafs. Alex Burrows scored two goals for Vancouver while captain Henrik Sedin recorded four assists. Roberto Luongo made 24 saves in the victory.
-Goal of the Night: Check out this diving effort by Vancouver's Manny Malhotra:

-Not to be outdone, check out the placement on this shot by Daniel Sedin:
-Daniel Sedin and Luongo had a moment:

-Maple Leafs forward and former Penguin Colby Armstrong got the drop here against Vancouver's Kevin Bieksa:

-Someone threw a fish on the ice in Vancouver:

-Hockey Night in Canada's opening montage for this game was sharp:
-Miikka Kiprusoff made 28 saves for the Flames in a 1-0 shutout of the Kings. It was the 43rd shutout of Kiprusoff's career. Calgary has won three out its past four games.

-Kiprusoff lost track of this puck:

-Radim Vrbata's overtime goal gave the Coyotes a 2-1 win against the Stars. Mike Smith made 30 saves in the victory. Phoenix has won seven out of its past eight games.
-Vrbata showed a ton of patience on his goal:
-Happy times in Phoenix:

-Coyotes captain Shane Doan put a little too much torque on this shot:

-Phoenix lost forwards Martin Hanzal ("lower body") and Kyle Chipchura (wrist) to injuries during the game.
-The Coyotes recalled defenseman Michael Stone and forward Matt Watkins from Portland of the AHL.
-The Kings demoted forward Trent Hunter to Manchester of the AHL.
-Brooks Ostergard made 40 saves for the Robert Morris men's team which tied RIT, 2-2.
-Max Strang made 50 saves and led the Mercyhurst men's team to a 2-1 win against Air Force.
-Kelley Steadman scored two goals for the Mercyhurst women's team in a 4-4 tie with Mercyhurst. Thea Imbrogno had a goal and an assist for Robert Morris.
