Two overtime games. Two different sports. Two wins for Zach DiBeradin.
DiBeradin plays soccer for McKeesport and also is the football team's kicker. In the span of four days, he got some overtime kicks in both sports. Last Friday, he kicked an 18-yard field goal in overtime that gave the McKeesport football team a 31-28 victory against Penn-Trafford.
On Monday night, DiBeradin had four goals as McKeesport defeated West Mifflin, 5-4, in overtime.
In football, it was only the second field goal of DiBeradin's career. The other came last season.
But DiBeradin wasn't the only one getting his kicks in two different sports. In soccer, Charleroi's Mitchell Woytovich scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory against McGuffey last Thursday. On Friday, he was 3 for 3 in extra points as the Charleroi football team defeated Waynesburg, 21-0.
Size 22 cleats
Bigfoot lives - on a high school football field. Connor Duffy is a 6-foot-7, 300-pound lineman at Kingsway Regional High School in New Jersey. Earlier this season, he couldn't play because he couldn't get cleats big enough. Get this: He needs a size 22.
He eventually got some size 20 cleats that he was able to "squeeze" into. But check out this story by Steve Politi of the Star-Ledger from earlier this season on the "shoe" dilemma.

Player's leg amputated
Sad story out of Kansas, where a player needed part of his leg amputated after an injury in a game. The Kansas City Star has a story on the plight of Trevor Roberts. It's a good story on a kid who has kept an upbeat attitude.
Late for tee time
Hopewell's Craig Fontana qualified for the WPIAL Division I golf individual championship, but was disqualified because he was late for his tee time. Apparently, Fontana and his coach hit traffic on the way to Longue Vue Country Club in Verona, and then got lost.
